Cramer Named Athlete of the Week
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 11, 2015) - Sophomore first basemanJackson Cramerhas been named the Varsity Sports Report Athlete of the Week for his performance in a win against No. 11 Oklahoma State last weekend.
Cramer led the Mountaineers in a 5-4 victory in the series opener on Friday night, scoring the first run of the game and then driving in the game-winning run. Cramer hit his first career triple with one out in the fourth inning and then scored to give WVU a 1-0 lead on a triple to center field by freshman designated hitterKyle Davis.
Friday’s game was then suspended with the game tied 4-4 in the top of the ninth with two outs and runners on first and second for the Mountaineers and Cramer at the plate. When play resumed, Cramer laced a double off the right field wall to easily score sophomore catcherRay Guerrinifor the game-winning run. Cramer finished with two hits, two runs, one RBI, one double, one triple and one walk to lead the Mountaineers at the plate.
