WVU Release WVU Leaps to No. 17 in NWCA Division I Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (January 30, 2024) – Standing at 9-3 overall with three duals remaining in the regular season, the West Virginia University wrestling team moves up to No. 17 in this week’s NWCA Division I Coaches Poll.



This marks West Virginia’s first time inside the teens since the team checked in at No. 19 during the second week of the 2016 campaign. WVU last reached No. 17 back in 2004 and previously ranked as high as No. 16 in 2005.



Individually, eight members of the program rank among the top 33 of their respective weight classes in the first NCAA Coaches' ranking leading up to this year's NCAA Championships: junior Jett Strickenberger (No. 31-125), redshirt sophomore Jordan Titus (No. 10-141), freshman Ty Watters (No. 7-149), senior Caleb Dowling (No. 31-157), senior Peyton Hall (No. 9-165), redshirt freshman Brody Conley (No. 15-174), redshirt junior Dennis Robin (No. 29-184) and redshirt senior Michael Wolfgram (No. 31-HWT).



The Mountaineers travel to Iowa for their final road trip of the season against No. 4 Iowa State (Feb. 2) and No. 18 Northern Iowa (Feb. 4), before welcoming Glenville State into the WVU Coliseum for Beauty and Beast on Sunday, Feb. 18, in the regular-season finale.
