World Cup of Hockey 2016

Russians have NA down 2-1 and on the run.......first time things have gone against the kids pretty much since they first got together. They better be careful or Ovechkin and Crew may run them out of Toronto.

Enjoy the game tonight fellas! The building should be electric...always seems to be with this match up...hoping for a fast pace and no injuries...

Oh and....Go Canada Go!!! :boxing:

Go TC......send Torts and Jerkie Burkie (I like that name for him) home for good and open fire on both of them.

Well I can't stand Pope Babcock either so we each have a few under our 'colours ', that should get a punch in the teeth lol...
Let's see a good game! Drop the puck! [cheers]

CM...I feel your pain even more now re this jackass Torts...I have no clue as to why he would leave Quick in there after the 4th goal, whether his fault or not (the 3rd was weak, and a couple others the right bounce). It is the perfect reset for a team next to a time out (as you may often have heard me complain... what ever happened to the time out at the RIGHT time) I honestly don't get it...where is Trotz ...EDIT !!!(seems I just realized he is on our bench lol? Yes I've had one or 2) Who in your opinion would have this US team working harder...or perhaps smarter...Laviolette?

I wonder if we're gonna see some 'well geez Brooksie' lowlights outta the asshat from the post game presser in the AM ? I know he's in town...this duel is always good for a laugh...

It wouldn't have bothered me at all if Laviolette was behind the bench; at least he's a push-the-play kind of coach. I was PO'd at him for a pretty long time after he tried to take on Disco Dan when he was in Philly; but that's a pretty long time ago, and everyone has moved on......

Anyway, I assume everyone has read (or heard about) Kessel's post-game tweet:

Just sitting around the house tonight w my dog. Felt like I should be doing something important, but couldn't put my finger on it.

Well, I guess he's getting downright roasted by certain individuals (especially David Backes, and to a lesser extent Derek Stepan) associated with Team USA. All things considered, I wish PK wouldn't have made the tweet; but I myself didn't think it was that much of a cheap shot. But Backes came out today and more or less said he (and others) are gunning for Kessel in the future for cheap-shotting them.

All I can say is Backes needs to spend a little more time trying to explain why he personally did so little in the first two games rather than moan (at considerable length) about Kessel. Guess I'm now just waiting for Torts to come out publicly against him, too (though, who cares). I guess I understand why these US guys are thin-skinned after those two crappy performances; but trying to somehow shift the conversation toward Kessel is, in my estimation, the height of immaturity.

And, now Kessel has been hammered enough that he's had to come out and say he wasn't being personal with his tweet (which he wasn't). Won't matter to that jackass Backes, though......he's still more worried about finding somebody (or something) to cover his sorry ass.

Well, if Facebook is any indicator.......and I'm not sure it is among hockey fans.......Backes (and his pissbaby attitude) is getting absolutely ripped to shreds. Best comment of them all was this one:

"Crybaby Backes will fit in the Bruins"

Great Post!!!

Not much I can add to it but...I am neither here or there on whether PK should have posted it however I understand he is PO'd at being left off the team. Don't blame him one bit for that, and usually he's a pretty soft spoken fella. As you say I don't sense it was directed at anyone in the lineup? Likely at the 'braintrust' that put the team together...perhaps Jerkie and Torts namely. I sense some significant change coming at the top of USA hockey after this result. We know there is significant talent there nowadays, perhaps more than ever before , even without the young guns this time round(I'd be curious to know your opinion there CM), maybe the last world cup win in the late 90's had similar talent? Leetch, Hull, Chelios etc?

And as I type during this first intermission of the Can/Europe match...the dinosaur idiot Cherry decides to throw Kessel under the bus too...he probably thinks Backes some kind of hero.

One other question...why on God's green earth did the doofus sideshow Torts decide to give his opinion on the National Anthem kneeling controversy should it involves his players??? His job is to deflect from his players and answer hockey questions during these pressers...nothing could possibly be gained by entering this debate! Man that asshat loves to hear himself talk...

I guess I added a bit to it lol but then it's always fun to chat hockey...

BTW I know you mentioned you were pulling for my boys last night but regardless my condolences on the result and I hope to see a return of both teams to 'full value' next tourney so we can get a real feel on how both nations are doing... I admit the young NA team is exciting to watch but as I heard someone say today 'what if it's NA vs Canada in the final? Is the same emotional investment there? The nervousness before the game? Sitting on pins and needles?' My answer would be NO....It's a good gimmick for now...but still a gimmick IMO. Nothing beats a Canada/Russia/USA in any order final in my mind....

2-1 Canada..we got a game here!

I assume Grapes has always hated Kessel......he's never played Grapes' kind of game......so I really don't see how his opinion is worth noting in this case. Plus, he loves hacks like Abdulkater and Dubinsky for whom Kessel got passed over.

BTW t, I ordered a Team NA tee from nhl.com yesterday......the same day I stopped at Consol Energy Center (I was in Pittsburgh yesterday). Wanted a Cup Championship tee, but I really didn't like what little 2016 stuff they had left on the hangers. Mucho 16/17 stuff, but I don't need it bad enough to pay full retail. Instead, I grabbed a 2016 Finals tee and a Pens license plate frame, both on clearance for $5.00USD each.

Meanwhile, I have to admit Pope Mike knew what he was doing when he put Sid with Bergeron and Marchand, which most of us admittedly didn't like. And speaking of NA, MacKinnon was absolutely sick in undressing King Henrik on that game winner. I'm a;so wondering if his excellent WCH will springboard MacKinnon into the elite this season.

Finally, I'm hoping Rinne or Rask can finally win a game for the Finns and help back NA into the elimination round over the Russians.

When Halak is on? He is ON! Man he looked good tonight...kudos to him for a really good effort!

And sounds like you got the right deal on the finals T and plate frame CM...Speaking of which I actually met a nice fella from PA and a WV grad who commented on my EERS lp frame when I was parked on the the waterfront downtown last week...he was here on holiday and he seemed pretty happy / shocked to see it lol...I mentioned that I was headed down for K St next wknd with the boys and on the discussion went for awhile! Man o man...beat BYU and doesn't that game REALLY mean something! Let's get that K St monkey off the back and have the pundits chatting Mountaineers come October!!!

And yes...I scratched my head at Sid with the 2 B's...apparently I was WRONG...

Good 1st for TC; POCCHA is lucky they have the Tournament MVP in their goal (and I hope Bob leaves it all at the ACC this month). Obviously a sweet play by Sid; I'd like to see Geno do something in place of Datsyuk (who's on the sidelines, where he's been seemingly for most of the 3 or 4 years).

Can the hockey pundits now officially drop this Sid vs the man I like to call 'Player 8' comparison? I mean after tonight #8 was nowhere to be found when it mattered AGAIN! Sid OWNS his ass!!!
