You can also expect to hear him say "Welcome to big-time football" 8 years into his tenure, especially if you lose games you were supposed to win.
Who's wondering? Pretty much everybody knows the real reason he left.

From what I heard the Debutante Ball at River Oaks CC is more his style
He left to avoid being fired at WVU. Everybody up here wanted him gone. He’s a terrible coach. He can’t recruit.
Everyone complained about the assistants but Dana did not have the money available to get the best coaches.
Story out of Houston is that Dana wanted more money into the program.
Don't know why WV didn't make an investment in him.
Maybe you didn't think he was the right coach.
I think ultimately it came down to Dana not wanting WV and WV not wanting him

But Houston is thristy and has people who can throw away money.

Don’t fool yourself. If Dana would have won the Oklahoma game and coached and recruited better he would be at WVU another several years. He really didn’t want to leave power 5 but had no choice cause he was going to be fired and back to making $500,000 as a non power 5 offensive coordinator. Dana can’t coach or recruit. That’s why he had to leave to avoid being fired and exposed more.

Jealous of what? Dana wasn’t getting extended, no raise and no match from wvu. He underperformed. It’s easier to get another, well paying job when you’re employed and he played it right. It was time for him to move on. Be happy you have him, because the majority of wvu fans are thrilled about it.
There are programs like ours that do rise up all the time - WVU in the mid 2000s, UCF last couple years, Cinci this year, etc. I respectfully disagree that we can't go higher than where Dana has us.
We have invested a lot in his demands. We were not investing more off of a mediocre season that had his precious NFL caliber senior QB and several other draftable upperclassmen. We were willing to give him another year and he likely thought the cupboard was bare so took a step down instead of getting fired.

99% of people I’ve spoke to here in WV have said this same exact thing. It may be negative but it’s also reality. Dana wasn’t wanted and had to leave before getting fired.
Probably why Grier didn't play in the bowl game. Not sure it has been discussed but he is a smart kid and could probably see the handwriting on the wall. Maybe Cajuste too.
Cajuste I could see coming when he got hurt in the Oklahoma game. It's very easy to blow a knee at left tackle, the money spot on O-lines in the NFL. He's been plagued by leg injuries since he got here, why take a chance?

The problem with Will is the WVU fanbase has a long memory. Long after Dana's foibles are forgotten, people will be loathing Will for passing on the bowl game, yet opting for the Senior Bowl.

Oliver Luck was the best at organizing boosters for $. Lyons I'm not so sure about.
