--West Virginia head coach Neal Brown said that he thought Lee Kpogba stood out and was active in the run game. Hammond Russell also was good. The Mountaineers played the deep ball well minus one time at cornerback. Offensively, Jeremiah Aaron made a couple nice plays and Kole Taylor had the catch of the game with the one handed grab. Devin Carter had the explosive plays and they're talented at running back and they will have a spot for all of those guys.

--14 practices are staff and personnel evaluations for both units and people. They want to see how people react and get repetitions and scheme. Today was about performing and they want it to be fun. They did some things with competitions because they enjoy that in practice. There is a difference with people in the stands and an extra element of pressure.

--Statistically Garrett Greene had better stats. Both of them are runners and in this format it's hard for their full tool set to be thrown. Marchiol threw two deep balls and the receivers didn't make a play on the ball. It's going to be the long game, winter spring and into fall camp before they sort it out.

--Montre Miller defended two go-balls and also had a nice break on a slant and got his hand on the ball.

--CJ Cole has paid his dues and there is a long history of quality walk-ons here. The walk-ons are the glue of the roster. It's important to have West Virginian's on the roster. He is very respected on the football team because he's one of the best people and a hard worker.

--They'll worry about play calling in the fall. Jeff Koonz and ShaDon Brown called the scrimmage in order to grow coaches and Sean Reagan and Chad Scott called the plays. He wanted those two defensive coaches to get experience calling plays on that side. The rotations of those coaches also worked the scrimmages the week before. There were definitely some improvements.

--Bell has made improvement and today was the second time that nobody was telling him what to do. He got beat off the ball for a sack today. Bell has a wing span of 87 plus but he has to decide. He plans to sit down and come to a decision moving forward after talking with Bob Huggins and Bell.

--West Virginia had one penalty today. Last year they had some procedure penalties that really hurt them and it wasn't an issue today. Defensively they really worked fundamentals because usually those happen because they were out of position.

--Chad Scott is going to be on the field this fall. When somebody earns a leadership role, sometimes being put in a position you flourish or struggle and he's really flourished. He is great in front of the room and his best service is to be on the field. He is an energy guy and they feed off him. Sean Reagan will stay in the box.

--West Virginia is better with pad leverage and DBs playing a little more zone coverage. Making sure linebackers within limits are getting their hands on people and the corners are playing with their feet.

--Brown doesn't think the timing changes will be that big of a factor.

--Ben Cutter and James Heard are going to be factors for them in the fall. Heard is the most natural pass rusher they've recruited and they have to find a way to use that skill set.

--West Virginia now needs to hold the roster together and add some pieces. They need to get a lot better in all three phases. The Mountaineers have to be ready to go.

--Sean Martin didn't play due to precaution. Ja'Shaun Poke was held out and Asani Redwood isn't going to be ready at the beginning of the season but he likely will return.

--Braham had the touchdown where he ran away from the defender and he's gotten faster but he faded away from a go-ball. Brown is pleased with his progress.

Look like Greene was the more polished experienced player as he is. Nicco looked to have a rough time and holding onto the ball too long. Even though it's just a fun time carnival type spring game Greene proved to me he's the better QB for now. Many things can change over the summer though.

Got to wonder now which players check out for other territories and which ones stay.

Greene is a good spring game QB as he also showed in the past. Time to be a game QB.

That's Garrett Greene.

His energy, is infectious.

Just can't coach that Entergizer Bunny factor.
He offers much more than jt Daniels.

The whole Roster seems more polished, better prepared.

GG energizer Bunny
transcends from top to bottom.

A good coach would've named Greene the starter a while ago. He has more experience and more importantly he is a natural leader, something you can't teach, and something Brown is not. Greene has paid his dues on top of the rest. Should've been his job to lose all off-season..... except our dooshbag Prozac coach.

Being the 'Energizer Bunny' does, in no way, make him a winning QB. Recognize and appreciate his valuable attributes--energy and running. He may be able to actually throw the ball but I have grave concerns that he has the 'QB role' mastered. Maybe have some series where BOTH QBs are on the field together. Would provide some interesting change of pace and uncertainty for the defense. Do not need to fall prey to his pleasant demeanor and squander the BEST QB prospect we have had in years. Screw this up, by being short sighted, and we lose Nicco to the portal , maybe much sooner than many might anticipate. WE NEED to RETAIN him.. Greene has talent and needs to have THAT TALENT utilized in the appropriate context. The Energizer Bunny beats a drum, but I have doubts about his consistently beating other football teams.

The only problem I see with Garrett Greene is he tries to force things and makes pretty costly mistakes (think INTs) at times. If they can get that corrected, he could be a gamebreaker.

Greene makes us .500 if we're lucky.

We will be lucky to be .500 no matter who is QBing. A running QB can help change a game, but our team is coached by the most lame coach WVU has ever seen. What in the world is Wren Baker thinking about now. The spring game goes from 12,000 to 1000. About %.002 of WVU fans believe Neal Brown is a good coach.

Another scare is still no outside speed. But it was good to see Greene hit the intermediate pass.

Nicco was still 6-12 for 58 yards but Greene 8-11 for 156 a TD pass and a 40 yard TD reception. He could have a game of a TD pass, rush and receiving.

Guess you didn't see White's TD run.

Yeah man that is funny lol. Mofo is a funny mofo....

We will find out against Penn State how much more polished WVU is though for real.
PSU is a top 10 team. Not even Rod Fraud teams could have gone into PSU and won. WVU hasn't won at Beaver stadium since 1954. Nehlen was 2-12 vs PSU. Last time at Beaver stadium was 1991 and we got a beat down of 51-6.

I disagree that the Pat White RR teams would've lost to PSU. They (PSU) always have a high ranking and literally almost never, ever live up to it. WVU beat way better teams than PSU back then.

Who are these better teams Pat White RR teams beat on the road in regular season?

PSU was 40-11 from 2005-2008 and finished ranked in top 10 3 times.

The Pitt game is going to be very telling. Even if WVU is going to be good this year, playing a very good PSU team at State College with an inexperienced QB is going to be a beatdown. And even if WVU is going to be bad this year, playing Duquesne at home is going to be an easy win. Pitt in Game #3 is going to tell us a lot.

Lol...you can be such a homer suckup.
Maybe wvu should declare games against tough teams like PSU "exhibition scrimmages " and not real games. With your logic Brown's Mountaineers should go undefeated, 1-0, with that official game against the little dukes from Pittsburgh a tough one.

Please show me where I picked WVU to beat PSU. Quit being a dumbass.

PSU was always overrated. We would have beat them any of our BCS years had we met them in a bowl.

Hard to say if we would have or not. But that's in the past.

PSU will show us no mercy this year.
Sadly they wont show us mercy. They are a damn good team and will most likely beat the hell out of us. I would like to think we have a chance, but I'm not seeing it at all. Maybe some of our players can get their autographs or something lol.
