A recent poll by Rivals Rates West Virginia Fans as Smartest Fanbase in Big-12
The article considered a variety of factors including: education, message board posts, recruiting tips, number of posts on official message boards and overall image. West Virginia finished #1, closely followed by TCU, Brigham Young, Utah and Cincinnati. The bottom-3 consisted of Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
Of course, every fan knows for a fact his or her team has the best fans. Every college football fan also knows for a fact that a specific team, usually a conference rival, has the dumbest fans. While one could argue with anyone for the rest of eternity about which team’s fanbase is the least intelligent, Rivals decided to actually pull some data and settle the debate once and for all. I 100% understand that these rankings are going to piss off a lot of people, but don’t take your anger out on the data, facts are facts.
I compiled the rankings by combining the following six equally weighted criteria:
