Hope all the MU fans enjoyed that... after all, it was good for the state, right?
Happy now?
Chuck Landon even referred to it as "the biggest athletic event in the history of the state"... specifically referencing WVU's 1989 Fiesta Bowl (National Championship appearance), WVU's 1959 basketball national championship appearance, and Mary Lou Retton's Olympic performance. Even crazier, Landon claimed that this 2nd round NCAA midnight-matchup would be on a much bigger national stage than all of those events.
You want to play, come play in Morgantown. We don't care either way. In fact, I care so little, that I would support shipping the trophies from the basketball game and even the Coal Bowl down to Huntington. Those things shouldn't be taking up any space in our storage closets.
Just playing WVU is a huge accomplishment for Marshall... maybe someday you can tell your herd-fan grandkids how you were there for the slaughterings.
