More bad news for the Mountaineers.....

Starting cornerback Hakeem Bailey will miss the first half after getting ejected for targeting in the second half of the Iowa State game. Fellow starter Keith Washington was inactive against Iowa State due to a muscle injury that affected his ability to run, so his return against Oklahoma is no guarantee.

Starting quarterback Austin Kendall’s status is also in the air after leaving the Iowa State game with a chest injury.

Not having Kendall is a blessing in disguise for WVU.

He can spend more time watching the game and picking up things he is familiar with including blitz pickups.
I am sure OU has changed some things but if Kendall has an idea what OU is doing on offense it gives you a head start.

Lincoln Riley is a smart coach.

Jimbo's OC left him at Florida State and went to Auburn and he didn't even change his signals on his offense.
Auburn had a huge advantage in that NC for the first half.
Jalen Hurts is a different type of QB but there are some things with OU that haven't changed.

You are interested in blitz pickups and changes at the LOS.
You have an idea of audibles and what OU likes to do in regards to the defense.

Because it is more about your defense.

He is familiar with their defense but he knows the entire language of their offense.
Coaches try to change words in terms of signals but changing the entire language is difficult.

Baylor is so paranoid about it they don't let the coaches in the box see it.
They don't even have another QB somewhere in the conference.

They have a new DC anyway. It is their offense against the defense.
Gives him all week to watch film and see if he can decipher their signals.
Then you know the play based on the card. Teams don't really huddle anymore. Could force OU to go old fashion in terms of relaying plays and huddling.

It doesn't matter who is at QB if WVU can not get a run game established. This forces WVU into being a one dimensional team. Without the run game teams will play zone defense and rushing 4 to 5 to get pressure.
