With the standings what they are, a loss by WVU would really put WVU behind the 8-ball as even if Texas would lose again, they would still have the tiebreaker. I like WVU as a betting underdog in this spot. I think it will provide additional motivation, if that is even possible.

Texas still has to play ISU and Texas Tech. Both games are possible losses.

Iowa State is iffy unless that team developed a lot more than Texas this last year.
Matt Campbell tries to play bully ball with Texas and his team has been pushed around the last two years.

Since Texas has won the last 4 in Lubbock that games could end up being a loss because Texas usually wins 2 out 3 in Lubbock.
But.....
The game vs Oklahoma this weekend will go a long way in determining how fired up Tech is.

Montgomery and Purdy, not playing or starting early in the season, made a huge difference. The winning streak is on their watch. The losses, not when they were in the mix. Big, big difference in the team with M and P.

Iowa State can help WVU by beating Texas, too.

Everybody has score 30 plus on ISU except Akron, TCU and WVU. ISU lost 1 of those. ISU is not all that. WVU just picked a bad night to suck.

I am talking about Iowa State playing Texas the last two years.
Montgomery was abandoned last year as Iowa State rushed the ball 15 times for 10 yards.

Montgomery played against Iowa as well this year and was abandoned in that game.

Iowa St wants to play physical and push people around.
Very much like K State. Problem is that doesn't always work.

Purdy is a different story. He is Joel Lanning with an arm. Iowa St used Lanning against Texas in 2016 and had issues running the ball and was absolutely embarrassed.

Iowa didn't. They won the game 13-3.

Iowa State is a good team and getting better. Campbell is an excellent recruiter and their staff is very good at developing players.

If I was a WV fan I would be concern about the lack of fight from the team as a whole in that game.
Not saying Will Grier is not a leader but there is a lot to be said that he has a family outside of football.
Most NFL players do as well but grown men in the NFL are there because they don't need to be pushed. You can't say that for CFB players as some have gotten by on physical gifts their entire life.

There it is. You're not a WVU fan. Why are you here being lame?

Campbell will be gone at first P5 big boy offer. Ignore on.

Montgomery played in all three of Iowa State's losses. #RevisionistHistory

So, what? Reading comprehension failure. Montgomery played in all three of Iowa State's losses, carried the ball 17-21 times in each game, and played in all 12 quarters. He was totally ineffective against a B1G team, so he only had 17 carries in ISU's loss to Iowa. Again, CFE's post is revisionist history.

He already turned down a ton of money at Tennessee. The OSU job sucks. Earl Bruce left ISU to take that job, and had many great years at OSU, and then had a 6-5 season and they fired him. Why put yourself through that crap. MCC has a job at ISU for LIFE, and the fans here will worship the ground he walks on. He is getting a 80M expansion on his athletics building that we will see plans for in mid november. ISU is close to the top 25 in attendance, there are about 90+ schools in America that would kill for that devotion. He makes 3.5M a year, and likely going to get another boost this year. He is in a town where he is #1, the Des Moines MSA is top 10 for interest in College football. No competing with Pro sports in this are.

Sort of how it is in Morgantown for Huggy Bear.

He won’t be there after next year. It’s OK....you’re Iowa State so no one expects much anyhow.

I agree about WVU going off the rails. I disagree about dissing Iowa State because that in effect disses WVU. If Iowa State is "not all that," then what does that make WVU for looking like Little Sisters of the Poor against that Iowa State defense. Give credit where credit it due, man.

Not long from now you’re going to be crushed. Never fall in love with a coach.

ISU 1-2 on the road. Loses to bottom feeder TCU and Big 10 Iowa. Their only win on the road was a lucky game against mid level OSU 48-42. Which makes WVU loss that much harder to swallow.

Let's see how WVU and ISU do against Texas.

Oh goodie another fake profile.

That doesn't negate the fact that ISU is a sound football team.

Yes their solid. Do they go unbeaten the rest of the way? It's possible. It's also possible they lose 3 of last 4 or finish 2-2. I don't count that silly game they scheduled with Incarnate Word. What is up with that.

We have some really dumb fans. You have to excuse them. They don't understand that ISU is a sound football team.

They are...this year. Likely next year too. After that ISU will return to their mean...a for shit football program.

Their coach ain’t retiring in Iowa

Time to leave that Big East mentality behind
No need to insult Iowa State.

It’s not a mentality...it’s how things work in the real word junior. Hell, we would lose Dana if we win the B12 championship. It’s how things go. WVU is twice the program ISU is and we’re not immune. Someone would write a check we can’t or won’t pay and then you move on.

The difference is that our mean is at least twice as good as ISU. Our mean is bearable....not spectacular, but bearable.

Being trashy and insulting other schools to make WV look better is what fanbases like Penn State and Ohio State do.
Reason why everyone laughs at their fanbases. Difference is Ohio St and Penn St are both historically great programs. WV is not.

We have not won on that level, as far as NCs go. But make no mistake, Our win total as a program is at a level very few programs have attained. A little research may do you some good.

To be blunt, to do what the USCs, Alabama’s (under Bear Bryant), Penn State’s, and Ohio State’s have had to do ethically to win those NC’s...I’m fine with where we are as a truly cleanly run program.

On some level, I enjoy smaller programs like ISU and Northwestern and Kentucky having their moments. Just don’t ask me to look at their programs as being on par with ours.
