Arizona took down Utah on Saturday night/Sunday morning in double overtime.

I think maybe Whit Babcock, who was at WVU with Rich, might have Rich on speed dial for the Virginia Tech job. At least Rich knows how to beat a top 10 team. An admirable feat.

There is now at least an outside chance of meeting up with those guys in the Cactus Bowl. Tough win to pull out considering Arizona was down their starting QB and starting RB.

No one should be surprised. But I'm sure the explanations as to how bad a coach Rod is & how Utah was a pretender will pour in.

Ariz has been decimated by injuries this season on offense & defense but didn't make excuses out of it.

That's another top 10 win & bowl eligibility. It is what it is.

both have flaws. Nick Saban, Urban Meyer and Brian Kelly have flaws.

not sure about equal.

Rod has 152 wins as a head coach. Dana has 33.

This season Ariz is 6-5 with 3 Pac-12 wins including one top 10 win.

WV is 5-4 with 2 BXII wins against the bottom half.

What have you done for me since 2012: Rich is 32-19 at a basketball school. Dana is 23-24.

Great, let me know when is team is in the top 10

If I can interrupt this spin fest for a minute. Rich lost to 4-6 Washington 49-3. Forty Nine to Three.

When Dana loses to ISU or KState in equivalent fashion, then you can talk. Until then, it is completely fair to say that the two coaches are pretty much the same, or that Dana holds a slight edge since he doesn't get blown out by teams with losing records.

Let's see......... Dana beat Texas, a school with a storied football tradition along the lines of Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan. Rich beat Utah, a school with a football tradition along the lines of Marshall, Boise State, and East Carolina. Rich also left Michigan football in a shambles for the better part of a decade, something a trained ape would find hard to do.

Yup. Ol' Plugz would be the first guy on my list..................... to rake my lawn.

Yeah Dick also knows how to:
-get rolled by UCLA at home & Washington on the Road this season
-be the worst coach ever at Meat Chicken
-leave his Alma Mata "Dream Job" and let us all know this place "ain't so F$&@ING special" and get sued and lose $4 million on the buyout.

Yeah he's a heck of a Dick!
A broken watch is right twice a day.
There were/will only be 2 top 10 wins if you look at season end.

I hope he, Magda, the Water Boy, and even Dusty do go to Blacksburg. I guess Rhett will have de committed 3 times if that happens. Plus it means all the mouth breathers here that think there's a snowballs chance in hell he will return to his "Dream Job" may actually move on from that stupid idea.

I still say Babcock is smarter than that. He will go after Fuente or Herman if he doesn't tap Bud Foster (don't do that). If Tubberville was like 5 years younger, he'd be ideal. The guy can coach.

Texas may have a storied tradition but they are 4-6. You should beat teams like that at home

Magda ....LMAO!

Hopefully the B12 dose not have enough bowl teams to fill out the Cactus Bowl Slot. We do not need to go out there and play Arizona in their home state.
Be careful what you wish for, Woody.

Facing an Arizona school in the Cactus Bowl is a hundred times better situation for us than Tennessee at the Liberty Bowl or Texas A&M in Houston.

You do realize we were Kansas first Big12 win since before they stopped wearing leather helmets!!!!

Slight exaggeration but yes and I was not happy about that nor Dana coming out afterwards saying something to the extent that we weren't in the Big East anymore. Rich lost to almost everyone at UofM, so what's your point? My point is I am tired of people drooling over themselves for Rich Rod. He is a mediocre coach at best. His record proves that. If you aren't on board with Dana, I certainly understand, but quit it with Rich Rod already. We can do better than both.

You realize that facts that don't fit their bigotry just riles some on this board.

Rich's coaching record, including Michigan, is far superior to Dana's much-shorter coaching record. Dana may pass Rich some day, but he's a long way off today. 0 for October, regardless of the competition, is not something you brag about on your resume.

I hope for my alma mater's sake that WVU, despite its inconsistent offense, can win out and win its bowl game, probably if the defense creates more turnovers than the WVU offense does.

Panning Rich's coaching abilities just makes posters look like their brains have been overwhelmed by their hatred. Hate does that to people. They have my sympathy.

49-3 against a 4-6 team. Fired from Michigan. What is their defense ranked right now? How much better do you think he would be in this conference? Please continue telling me how great Rich Rod is and how my brains have been overwhelmed by my hatred. This discussion is like arguing whose turd is the shiniest.

Kudos! Great line! Not relevant, but that doesn't deter many on this board.

If you want to get rid of CDH that's one thing, but, let's move forward and not hire a retread.

He's not coming back here after what the people of WV did to him and Calvin .

We hurt him, so He cried on ESPN OTL (not real tears though). He & Albert had to go to his new happy place and find joy.

Then they hurt him & he cried again and sang "you raise me up" by josh groban (which had to make everyone at that awards banquet, especially Jim Harbaugh, feel totally uncomfortable). So he wrote a book "3 & out", went to TV then AZ and found his next happy place again and joy.

Now he's hurt agin (playing good coaches every week will do that) and the WaterBoy is shopping his sorry ass to whoever will bite. I'm betting he won't find a new happy place with more joy.

He's a modern day Houston Nutt.

For those asking for a top 10 showing, Arizona was No. 7 into December last season & quietly contended for the Pac-12's playoff spot. You'll jump up & tell us next how Oregon beat them big that day, then conveniently leave out when Ariz beat No. 2 Oregon earlier in the season on the road on a Thursday night. That was against the Heisman Trophy winner as a reminder.

As to losing to I-State or K-State to compare, a 2-win I-State team unfortunately ended our 2013 season with an embarrassing defeat at home on Senior Night. K-State has defeated WVU 55-14, 35-12, and 26-20. That's 3/3 and a combined 116-46 scoring deficit.

Dana & Rich are not the same. 152-33. If that doesn't count or is unfair: four years as members of P5 conferences: 32-19 vs 23-24.

It would be a little interesting to see the reactions if WVU instead had upset No. 10 Utah and Ariz had just beaten a storied Texas team.

Was that KState team 4-6? No. Was the ISU game a 49-3 blowout? No. Just saying that my request for comparison was for an apples to apples comparison, or as much as possible.

For me it is not better since I would not be able to go to the game.

I have mixed emotions, too, Woody. I would LOVE for WVU to play Arizona, and beat Rich and Casteel, because I ALWAYS root for my alma mater to win every game. Which is why I'm in Mountaineer Field for every game, as long as I'm not dead. Then I'll have my family talk to the funeral home about driving the funeral procession 180 miles each way to go pass Mountaineer Field at kickoff time. I know that playing in Tennessee would benefit a lot of WVU fans who travel to Mountaineer bowl games. So, I can live with WVU vs. Rich in the desert or against Pitt in Tennessee or somewhere closer for WVU fans, who have enough games that are 800 to 1,200 miles away. Either way, the chants will rhyme with Pitt or refer to sand, which has the same number of words. :sunglasses:

All of you talking about DickRod really embarrass yourself......repeatedly. The sad thing is, you're too stupid to realize it.

152 total wins over career. 152 versus 33. obviously one coach has been doing this head coach thing a lot long longer than the other. that's why it says "doesn't count or is unfair." the most recent 4 seasons of work are an equal and fair way to compare & draw conclusions. it's also fair to say Ariz is a basketball school with a fraction of football history compared to WV. my opinion. okay if you guys don't agree.

what I originally posted was no one should be surprised he scored another top 10 upset. the numbers are brought up because this was turned into another Dana vs Rich debate because it was said they are equals. that's fine if that's your opinion and it's fine too that I disagree and the numbers don't align. that including all the numbers - past & present.

as a sidebar, if there is a coaching change in the next year or 2, I believe there are a number of coaches outside of both Dana & Rich would could win at West Virginia. a clean slate could be the best approach if Lyons & Gee decide the recent trend of 23-24 is not where we want to be.

Who cares what that traitor does? He is not our coach, will never be our coach, we already have a good coach. End of story.

he's a guy who left for what he perceived as a better job. He's not a traitor. He's not your slave. He has the same right as you to find another job.
