Almost there... What are you guys watching in fall camp at your schools? What are the important roster competitions?
Right now Clint Chelf is still the starter at QB for OSU, but it is very close by all accounts between him and JW Walsh. Chelf has the better arm and is a modest threat on the ground. We love Walsh's fire though, and he's a very good runner. Both struggle some with accuracy.
The freshmen kicker is making a real push, and the job is there for the taking.
Wickline will, as always, be sorting through his options on the OL. Program is fairly stacked though, so I think we're just talking about finding the bet five more than a desperate search for an answer.
Desmond Roland should have the backup spot at RB sewn up, but the freshmen Childs and Webster might push him some. Either way, we need to clarify the next man and determine if there will be a RS for anyone. Sophomore Caleb Muncrief is still in the mix as well, although fans seem pretty cool on him. He is very fast...
Questions in the secondary at SS between Shamiel Gary, Zach Craig and Lyndell Johnson (who moved from our STAR, or hybrid, LB spot). At CB we're looking to see where Kansas transfer Patmon fits in the rotation. Justin Gilbert is established on one side, but we've got two talented sophomores with game experience in Peterson and Lampkin. That should be the two-deep at CB, just don't know the order.
Clark and Bean seem like the best at DE. More concerned with how they look than who will win starting spots. A lot of inexperience at DE, but it wasn't a position of strength OSU's replacing. How well this position group performs will say a lot about how well OSU can live up to preseason favorite or cofavorite status. The rest of the front 7 is deep and experienced.
