I live in SC just outside of CLT. We had a kid come up playing sports several years ago he was a phenom. His dad was a familiar name in UNC circles. Came out of VA Beach, played at UNC then in the NBA (Hornets, Cavs, Bucks, several others) Anyway he was way too good for our small high school so he transferred up near Raleigh, then to a school in Rock Hill, played for a few colleges was a 6'8" 200 lb forward. I just remember being pissed when he transferred, I was going to miss some great basketball.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, he apparently lives just down the road from us. This kid was standing in the grounds of a preschool with a rifle and a pistol. When approached he ran across the street to a Publix and locked himself into an employee office. Local police took care of it, no one was injured thank God.
The kid is now 30, his name is Jaylen Richard Reid (his dad went by JR). You can search his name and you will find this and a few other bad incidents. Just stay in your kids life and hopefully they turn out ok.
