Bucky numbers. You two and your numbers. All coaches different time different players. Numbers can manipulated to fit your troll agenda.

You consider numbers to be your guiding criteria. Everyone has their own perspective. Here's a few numbers from a different perspective:

1. WVU's ranking in the Coaches poll before the 2007 Pitt game.
0. Pitt's ranking at the time.
10-1. WVU's record.
4-7. Pitt's record.
28.5. amount by which WVU was favored over Pitt.
13-9. final score of Coach Rodriguez's failure to adjust to Pitt defense.

Higher ranked teams are beaten by lower ranked/unranked teams all the time.

There is a big difference between guessing and arbitrarily assigning a ranking based on bias, compared to ranking a coach based on actual/factual wins and losses over a period of time.

One is a guess usually from bias, the other is just fact/reality.

WVU scored 3 points against Oklahoma State.

Missouri State scored 16, Tulsa 23, Boise State 20, Kansas State 20, Baylor 14, Texas 24, Iowa State 24.

Only Kansas and WVU scored 3.

Who wants to defend those comparative numbers that indict the WVU offense?

And who wants my alma mater to be at the bottom of pile with Kansas in any category?

Gundy has HCNB's number, CFE. HCNB has had Kansas State's number, so you have that going for you tomorrow.

The numbers rank Neal Brown with his WVU predecessors

FIRST 3 SEASONS AT WVU

Neal Brown 15-16

Dana Holgorsen 21-17

Bill Stewart 27-12

Rich Rodriguez 20-17

Don Nehlen 24-12

Frank Cignetti 12-21

That makes Neal Brown the worst in MORE THAN 40 YEARS!

Even beating Kansas State, Texas and Kansas would make Neal 18-16. Still worst in more than 40 years. And 2nd worst in 55 years!

Stop with the excuses. The numbers defy your logic!
Please put aside the pin- hole camera approach and myopically minimal field view glasses . Look at the overall level of competition faced in ALL these instances . The W/L record only represents a very small portion of the necessary to consider total picture.

and just what would those things be? lol

The standards that you expect out of Wvu have never existed within the programs history nor will they ever exist under the current format of college football.

Yeah you’re right....Brown is taking the program in the right direction brick by brick. Trust the climb 😂.

I LEFT HIS NAME OUT BECAUSE I WAS NAMING COACHES I THOUGHT WERE BETTER THAN NEAL BROWN. BILL DIDN'T FIT THAT DESCRIPTION. NO GOAL POSTS MOVED. JUST PUT IN NAMES THAT FIT THE PARAMETERS.
You claim objectivity but only name coaches you thought…isn’t that hypocrisy? I guess not when the self-declared grand poobah former sports journalist speaks to the minions. You set parameters and adjust them to support your desired outcomes. Do you find that you need larger size hat these days to cover that ego?

All those coach's wouldn't have had as good of records their 1st 3 years playing big 12 schedules.
While it’s always interesting discussion, with such a limited sample size it really doesn’t suggest a permanent trend. 5 years would be much more telling as far as predicting future success. Texas needs to realize that. JMHO

SORRY, I'M A COAL MINER'S SON SO I DON'T LOOK DOWN ON ANYONE. BUT I DO INFURIATE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH MY SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE AND INTELLIGENCE. YOU, TOO, APPARENTLY. AS SOMEONE ONCE TOLD MY GRANDSON: SO, YOU'RE MAD AT ME BECAUSE I'M SMARTER THAN YOU.

Do the numbers back up that false claim of yours?

I think the most important years for programs like wvu and those at its level are years 3-5. Year 3 is when you start to see some of his players come in. Years 4-5 is when his recruits start to mature and become upper classman. The question is can he put it together the next couple of years. One interesting point I looked at all the power 5 coach's hired the year Brown was hired at wvu. You can see below that 6-6 was a common record. Brown isn't behind his peers record wise after year 3. I didn't list Ohio State or Kansas which also had coaching changes they are on opposite ends of the spectrum to where wvu is.

Chris Klieman K State 7-5
Geoff Collins Ga Tech 3-9
Mike Locksley Maryland 6-6
Scott Satterfield Louisville 6-6
Matt Wells/Combie Texas Tech 6-6
Mack Brown North Carolina 6-6
