West Virginia Football Set To Unveil Bold New Uniform Designs for 2025 Season
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – As West Virginia University Football enters a thrilling new chapter under the leadership of returning head coach Rich Rodriguez, rumors are the program is taking its style to the next level. WVU is in talks to unveil four unique uniform designs for the 2025 season, blending tradition, innovation and a touch of “pop culture” flair. Each uniform purportedly pays homage to the program’s rich history and future ambitions while captivating fans with a fresh aesthetic. And there’s one under wraps that will indubitably blow fans’ minds.
“We’re excited to give our players and fans something special this year,” a WVU official said. “These uniforms honor the pride of West Virginia, the legacy of our program, and the Mountaineer spirit that defines us.”
1. Droid-Inspired Excellence – Blue and White Variants
Two of the new designs are inspired by iconic Star Wars droids, celebrating ingenuity and resilience.
- Blue Droid Uniform: Featuring metallic accents, sleek lines, and bold textures, this uniform combines WVU’s traditional navy blue with futuristic silver elements.
- White Droid Uniform: A crisp, clean white jersey accented with subtle gold and blue detailing evokes the essence of teamwork and precision.
In a nod to the famous Wizard of Oz character, the "Wicked Witch of the West" uniform blends shades of emerald green and navy blue, symbolizing power, mystique and determination, and the foliage of the great state of West Virginia. Bold stripes and a dynamic WVU design make this uniform stand out under the lights of Mountaineer Field.
3. Classic Gold and Blue – Timeless Tradition
Paying homage to Mountaineer football’s storied past, this design embraces the old gold and blue colors that fans know and love. Complemented by the iconic Flying WV helmet, this uniform is a reminder of WVU’s proud football heritage.
A Return to Glory
All uniforms feature the classic blue and gold WVU helmet adorned with the iconic Flying WV logo, unifying the designs under a symbol of pride and perseverance. The new uniforms will debut throughout the 2025 season, bringing an exciting visual identity to the Mountaineers as they compete for gridiron glory.
Fans can catch the first look during the season opener at Milan Puskar Stadium, where the Mountaineers will showcase their new threads on the road to reclaiming their legacy.
