RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State will not play its scheduled football game with West Virginia University this weekend due to the increasing likelihood of severe and unsafe conditions associated with Hurricane Florence.

Emergency management resources are expected to be fully utilized and needed throughout the region, and today's decision will help give ample time to deploy those resources across the state.

NC State has worked in partnership with University leadership, West Virginia University officials, the Atlantic Coast Conference and emergency management personnel to arrive at a decision in the best interests of the safety and well-being of fans, student-athletes and all parties involved.

Should this game be rescheduled or a replacement home game be scheduled, tickets for the West Virginia game will be valid. If this game or a replacement home game is not viable, a refund will be offered to season ticket holders. Details will be communicated at a later date.

With the impending weather, the Athletic Department and Ticket Office will follow in accordance with campus and be closed Thursday and Friday. We appreciate your patience and will continue to communicate details as they become available.

Bump. This was the 1st report.

Morgantown will be beautiful and sunny all weekend. It’s a shame N.C. State couldn’t man up and come play us in Morgantown. Should have been worked out. These southern coastal schools should realize hurricanes, tropical storms are every year in fall football season and that they need to play the game at other teams stadium like a road game when floods, hurricanes are coming. Other schools unselfishly adjust and change venues to play the game. South Carolina was scheduled to play LSU in 2015 at home in Columbia, SC but agreed to move game to LSU immediately in order to play. N.C. State dropped the ball. They should have come to Morgantown, WV. I also think N.C. State knows they will get handled and beat easily in Morgantown both years. WVU would have beat them in Raleigh as well this year.

Kind of like people who move to beach or anywhere close enough. They knew the consequences of hurricanes, tropical storms and still moved there. These southern schools must adjust to the situation better and faster.

The 2 teams you mentioned are in the same conference.

Virginia and Ohio U Bobcats agreed to play in Nashville, TN. Virginia had sense. Wake Forest vs BC moved to Thursday 5:30. Total joke that N.C. State could give in and come to sunny Morgantown this weekend. N.C. State is stuck in a basketball conference culture in NC but the thing that sucks for them is they are a loser in basketball too. NC State isn’t good in any sport. Raleigh is a loser sports town. They got no business even having that joke of an NHL team. Only interest in hockey around there is from the yankee transients from NJ, NY, Boston who don’t know anything else but boring pro sports.

When this N.C. State QB is gone next year they will drop from 8-4 back to 6-6 if that. NC State should have made decision Monday to play in Morgantown or somewhere else. No excuse. Raleigh is in a high potential eastern N.C. location that can get hurricanes, tropical storms every fall football season. They should have been more unselfish and gave up the home game. WVU should never schedule that loser N.C. school again. WVU is better than N.C. State in all sports, especially the big sports basketball and football. Man up and come to Morgantown.

Drop it.Get over it. Go home.Quit Bitching. Game canceled go blow off steam someplace else.

NC State kicked our butts the last time we played them. We had Geno Smith, Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey. Quit jerking your own chain and grow up.

In defense of that game, it was Bill Stewart and Mullen on that coaching staff. Mullen would've had a difficult time scoring more than 14 points with the greatest show on turf against an FCS college team.

Idiotic comments from another moronic little WVU "fan."

Southern coastal schools need to forfeit home games going forward next year if hurricanes come. They need to immediately agree 6-7 days before to move game to other teams home field. They sell the sun and weather so they need to sell away the home game when this happens. It’s easy fix and they make plenty of money to make it happen. No excuse. Play the game at other teams venue if they are in good weather area. No more of this stupidity by overpaid coaches, ADs and presidents. Play the game. Power 5 teams make plenty of money to get it done.

Ha. People are still talking crap on this board about Stewart

Suggest you go look at all the NFL guys on that NC state roster before typing the typical trash

Marshall will probably beat NC State next week in Huntington. NC State is a 7-5, 8-4 team with a good senior QB. Next year they will slip back to 5-7 without the QB. ACC is weak outside of Clemson. FSU is down with a bad coach and VT, Miami is average. Clemson has no competition in the weak ACC. NC State is not a top 25 team. WVU is a legit top 10 team this year.

He simply goes to another site where he's just annoying.

I think he has OCD complicated by asbestos and black mold levels in the basement he hides out in.

Marshall is a 5-7 or 4-8 team. Get a life.

Get offen Bill Stewart! For that matter............get offen Mullen! Move on like everyone else has. Warez

I'm not the one who brought it up. Someone else tried to draw a parallel between that game and the game that was to be played this weekend. Not as if the 2 games would've had any bearing on the other. However, one of the points made was how we lost despite having Geno, Tavon and Stedman. The fact is, Mullen was a liability to offense and Bill Stewart just refused to recognize it.

Well, will the person that brought it up get offen Stewy and Mullens! Right now..........ole son! Warez

Stew was not a great coach. He was a great friend and father figure to the players. He would have been just average or less in the Big 12.
