Keeping in mind that there are a total of 133 D-1 teams:
- Similar to our opponent last week, Iowa State is very good at TO Margin. They are tied for 6th nationally, at +1.40. WVU is currently tied for 101st at -0.60.
- Iowa State is tied for 2nd nationally with 2 blocked punts this season.
- Passing the ball, Iowa State is tied for 37th nationally in completion % at 65.7%, and WVU is tied for 105th at 58%. (However, WVU is tied for 15th overall in passing yards per completion at 14.25 ypc. Iowa State is 34th at 13.28 ypc). Iowa State is 56th nationally at 244.4 yards per game (right ahead of Penn State, who is 57th at 244.0 ypg). WVU is 80th overall at 216.6 ypg.
- Conversely, running the football, WVU has moved all the way up to 13th nationally at 223 ypg. Iowa State is 46th at 183.3 ypg.
- And defensively, Iowa State's rushing defense is ranked #67 at allowing 138 ypg (WVU's is ranked #57 at 130.2 ypg).
- Against the pass, Iowa State ranks #8 overall in passes intercepted with 8 on the season, and #5 overall in passing yards allowed defense with just allowing 133.6 ypg.
- WVU is currently ranked T46th overall at TFL per game with 6.4 per game, while Iowa State is currently down at #T62 at 5.8 per game.
It's going to be our ability to establish the run vs. Iowa State's ability to move the chains passing the ball down the field. And once again, I think turnovers will be huge. We finished +2 at OSU and won by 24. If we finish +1 or better Saturday, we will win this game. It appears that ISU has some ball hawks in the secondary, so Garrett will need to be careful with taking shots down the field. But, he's still going to need to, and we'll need for Huddy & Co. to win some 1-on-1's.
