Lot of schools are winning year 1 with new coaching staff. He's either good to go or we made a huge mistake and could have stayed with Brown if we want to be mediocre.

This statement has too much emotion and not enough logic. Brown should not have even been hired, let alone kept. Most schools have an adjustment period with a new coach. Most don't turn out like Indiana. Neals leftovers might fall flat on their faces. It may take Rich a year or so to stock the team with the right guys. His coaching style is harder to recruit for because he has a coaching style. Brown was feckless. There was no method or discipline. He would recruit duel threat qbs just to make them into pocket passers. Pure idiocy. It won't shock me if the Neal holdovers don't take to being coached hard. There won't be much of anything the same as it was under Brown. Rich is changing everything not just a little.

BS. Win first year. He's suppose to be a great coach. There's a transfer portal and JC players plus recruits. Neal's has leftovers that are talented enough to be coached. Already people making excuse and haven't even played a game yet. I expect 3-0 to start or it's been a mistake.
when you go to the portal for players you're stuck with who's in there... yes some good players looking for more money, but most are players who are either trying to move up from a lower division or bench warmers from larger schools

The portal is not the same as it was 7 years ago. Now profit sharing is available to recruit players. Players are instantly eligible and now there is profit sharing available along with NIL. There are 4 and 5 star players in the portal.
I expect 3-0 in OOC with a 4-5 or 5-4 in conference.

We'll see. Rich isn't going to get special treatment like Brown did but having high expectations of any coaches first year is just setting yourself up for disappointment imo. It could happen and I hope it does but I say by year 3 we should be winning 8-10 per year. That should be the bar but really always shooting for higher. As far as this year a lot can change and I suspect it will after tonight's game. I'm expecting a lot of transfers out to be announced.

Unc has promised to increase NIL to the football program three fold. That will probably have more effect on the results then the last name of the coach.
Does Rich Rod keep Neal's recruits like Scotty Fox for instance? This will be fun to watch play out. First thing first, bring in the DC from Oklahoma and the rest of the staff. There is a lot of work to do in recruiting and everything. Literally everything.
I don't think he really has much choice. Im sure there are guys in this class he can work with but others he can't. They will probably leave anyway. Its not like the old days when you had to stick to your commitment.
