I didn't see a single member of the local/WVU media pick Iowa State to win, and most picked WVU to cover the 6 1/2 point spread. The ESPiN talking heads, other than brain dead Desmond Howard, saw it differently.
And the Fiesta Bowl (ND), Sugar Bowl (UF), Miami (blocked punt), sPitt (National Championship game on the line) and then there’s the basketball side of the house.......
Remember the '89 Pitt game that was officially a tie but was more of a loss? A huge Pitt comeback led by a Pitt QB from WV that wanted to come to WVU, but Nehlen didn't want? That was a classic WVU screw-up.
Don always went into panic mode at least once a season in games that took a sudden turn for the worse. He crashed and burned that night.
Darren Studstill staggering around with his helmet turned sideways and Don looking lost as the whole crowd could see Studstill out on his feet on the big screens? Don had the poor kid run the next play which resulted in a pick six. A Nehlen panic attack at it's finest.
Rich losing twice to Maryland in blowouts in a single season where a QB he ran off from WVU played a key role with key return for TD's for MD? A classic season!
