--West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said his team has a long way to go. They're all happy to win and hopefully all understand that they have to continue to win.

--Huggins believes that his team has had some growth moments but they don't have selfish guys. Sometimes it might appear like Erik Stevenson takes some, but he's just trying to win and he has so much confidence in himself. It's not about scoring more points or anything like that. They have a really good group of guys and Huggins said he screwed up the first part of the schedule you think about the ones they could have won and where they'd be today.

--Texas is able to recruit the state of Texas and recruit nationally so they have really good players. He tried to recruit against them when he was at Cincinnati and they were hard to beat. They have a lot going for them. They run pretty much the same stuff as they did with Chris Beard.

--West Virginia missed free throws, took bad shots and had chances to win games earlier on the schedule. They did a lot of things that first year guys or guys that aren't comfortable do. It's a lot harder than what people think it is. He didn't know what to do with the portal guys because you're not teaching you're trying to break down habits that they have accumulated some of them over three or four stops. So you're trying to get them to do things the way you do it and it takes time. They are just now getting to where everybody is on the same page. He thinks a year from now they'll be a lot different because everybody understands what to do.

--Huggins thinks that they'll all be a lot more knowledgeable about things and watch a lot more film from what transfers did in the past.

--Huggins thought DerMarr Johnson in because he will do a terrific job recruiting for them especially in Washington, D.C. He gives them somebody that is a legend in the area and everybody knows him and what he's about. He's wired. Huggins didn't recruit Washington, D.C. hardly at all when he was at Cincinnati. That's a place they haven't done a very good job with. The current players will listen to him and he's a guy that has been through a lot. He's played for four or five teams in the NBA, at Cincinnati and is a quality person.

--It's all changing. The Big 12 is bringing Cincinnati, Central Florida and people from the West in as well. This league isn't solely going to be a mid-Western league so it could be attractive for people in Washington, D.C. West Virginia is the closest to the East Coast if they want to play in the Big 12. It ought to help them in recruiting.

--Texas can really make shots and they have to do a better job guarding them. West Virginia did a better job guarding the other night and if they do that it makes it harder to score. They've always been talented and had guys that can make shots. Huggins doesn't remember a Texas team that wasn't very talented.

--Huggins thinks they are better with rotations but not where they need to be yet.

--Tre Mitchell wasn't at Texas very long, but he's never been more comfortable. If he had known West Virginia was as good of a place as it was or the people were as nice and kind as they were he would have been here from the beginning.

--Both of the freshmen are very good. Both are going to be outstanding players for us here at the university. There are going to be people that are going to be all league guys eventually. You are talking about guys were Josiah Harris was the player of the year in Ohio. The other was the best prospect in West Virginia in Josiah Davis. They had to do something right.

--If DerMarr Johnson would have came in with the wrong attitude at Cincinnati, the players on the team would have knocked it out of him.

--Huggins had everything else on that Cincinnati team and he went to recruit DerMarr Johnson because he needed a two-guard.

--A lot of how they defended the ball screens against TCU was personnel dictated and how they are going to play.

--Timmy Allen is very, very good and very skilled. He is a terrific rebounder. He has guard skills but is a terrific rebounder. You can't throw size at him and it's going to bother him.
