The way to reach energy independence is to stop relying on the Middle East for our oil needs. Its also important for the environment to stop burning fossil fuels like coal.
The question was what does Biden believe that is different than Bernie. This is a policy they agree on more than disagree. There are many more policies, some I've mentioned some I haven't, where they disagree. Their ideas aren't mutually exclusive, but that doesn't make Biden a socialist. To say he's a socialist is incorrect.
The green new deal isnt "making an effort to be a leader".
The green new deal is akin to wiping out 33% of the worlds population to combat hunger.

I haven't used the term Deplorable once. I've never said the word online or offline to reference Republicans. I don't view the right wing element as deplorable. I do view Trump as a deplorable human being. He has never done anything that isn't in his own best interest. I can understand someone supporting a particular view of his if your and his interest intersect. But most of the Right Wing from what I've seen...here included...is that they feel he's interested in the working man's plight. He's not. He's only interested in doing what he wants to do, and he does certain things to fire up the base so they'll support the stuff he's self interested in. He could give a damn about bringing coal back for example. His only interest is getting votes from people that were affected by the downturn in the coal industry.
I don't think he's a racist in his personal life...or at least I don't have proof of that. I think he simply panders to racists, white supremacists, etc, because it gets him votes. That is irresponsible.
If you think he's tearing down all these norms, because he thinks its for the good of the country you're kidding yourself. If you think he's cleaning out the swamp you're kidding yourself. He's as reliant on corporate interests, raising money for his campaign, and partisan shit than anyone before him. I'm not saying what Biden did by getting his son a job is right. I am saying it doesn't scratch the surface on the messed up stuff Trump does on a daily basis.
My issue isn't with Republicans. Again, I vote Republican fairly often especially in local and state elections. My issue is simply with Trump. And as an extension of that its with those that support Trump specifically.
1) You think he's trying to help you specifically (gun rights, abortion, taxes, etc.). He doesn't care about guns or anything else for that matter. He doesn't believe in anything other than helping himself. And I have an issue with someone that backs someone like Trump simply because of their own self interest.
2) Many, if not most, of his supporters simply take the lies he says, the childish name calling, the negative branding BS he pukes on Twitter and at his rallies and they spread it thinking they are helping him and by extension yourself by espousing that crap. Its also a little ridiculous that a fat, orange dude with hair like that makes fun of anyone's appearance.
In essence, I think they're either being manipulated or selling themselves out for self interest. And for that, I don't respect them. What they are supporting is ruining civil discourse, societal norms, and basically the fabric of the country.

I didn’t vote for Trump in 16, I will in 20. Some of the initiatives he’s undertaken intersect directly with my brand of politics.
1. Strong national defense
2. Constitutionally focused judges
3. Lower taxes on corporations and small businesses
4. Reduced regulations
5. Combatting China on every available front just short of a shooting war.
6. Immigration and border enforcement
I love that he’s challenging the poverty pimps in the urban areas through real initiatives designed to address disparities in education and employment. Criminal Justice reform was huge. Black small business has exploded under Trump due to the tax relief, regulation reform, and urban enterprise zones that came as part of the tax cut. I’m for school choice, vouchers, and damn near anything that would help fix inner city schools.
The Dems are presumably on the opposite side of all of that. I can’t support them.
I don't see the spirit of what you are saying above any differently coming from the left. Hell, look at what the media has done to civil discourse. The left does not have moral superiority to the right by any stretch. There are countless examples of the left's manipulation of events using fear, the redefining of societal norms for a political end, and have been hurting the fabric of the country for at least 6 decades. The left is a major offender of propaganda on social media as well. So it runs both ways. There is one Red here historically bellowing "why would I vote against my economic interest" when his check from the government was his greatest achievement. So, if someone is conditioned to Trump and economically has benefited from him why vote against him? Plus, I have always said Trump is the personification of social media and many on this site are just like Trump in what they say, even the professed Christians.

I respectfully disagree. I don't disagree that social media is a major issue, and I think its a very good point that Trump is the personification. I also don't disagree that those on the Left Wing (Bernie Bro's, Antifa, etc) are just as bad as those on the Right Wing. I don't run into or converse w/ Left Wingers. And I really only run into Right Wingers on this site. But as was seen on Tue night, the Democratic Party fought back and reasserted their control over the Party, because of the crazy left and the fear they would actually win something instead of just bitch about it. The Republican Party on the other hand has been co-opted by Trump almost solely because they see that as the only way to win reelection. Fellate Trump or he will Tweet you a nickname and all of a sudden you are being primaried. He's like a junior high bully and the Republican Party knowingly bought in. That to me equals a lack of character.
I'm speaking specifically to the Republican Party leadership and elected politicans...not individuals that identify as Republicans. I do understand just as with the Democratic party its not monolithic. But there are 2 things I disagree with you about.
1) The far right media is much worse than the mainstream media. Republicans lump MSNBC and some other hacky sources with NBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post, NPR, etc. Those sources are maintaining decorum not destroying it like Fox News and other right wing outlets.
2) I think there are far more Trumpers only interested in their guns, coal, and abortion than people on the Left causing the same discord. The Bernie Bros are a far smaller group than the Trumpers.
3) A lot of Democrats are interested in the greater good...even if you're straight you believe same sex marriage is the right thing for those individuals, even if you don't plan on getting an abortion, Democrats believe a woman should have the right to govern her own body, even if you make a decent living you are OK with increasing taxes, because that money is going to help people that are less fortunate. Then you compare that to many Republicans who care about keeping THEIR guns, who don't want THEIR taxes raised, etc.
That is where we disagree. But I respect your opinion.

I tend to agree. I didn't support Trump but like DD, given the choice of Biden and Bernie, I will this time especially along the lines of my economic interests. Plus, there was a mounting level of malice where there was blatant abuse of power by Pelosi, Shumer and all the rest. I didn't like what they did with impeachment, the supreme court justice fiasco, FISA abuse, spying on Trump and probably others, Hillary given a pass considering if I or a private did just a hint of what she did, we'd be in jail, and all the other smear attempts where the media was complicit. I can't let Bernie contribute to destroying this country further than it is.
