If Chiefs can do it when not WVU?

Well you do have 26 profile names. Proven fact.

I only post on one.
Just need one.

You do more damage to this message board than you do good...

You can't separate your own ego from WVU so you end up shitting on WVU at times.

What time do you go over to your home board, you know.......Texas.

The NIT had a much bigger name...

So therefore WVU was consider the best team just like the Super Bowl winner

NIT was the Super Bowl

This was his point

WVU won its ONLY national basketball title in 1942, when the NIT was THE national title.

The NIT began in 1938 when there was NO NCAA title game. The NIT was in Madison Square Garden in New York City, the dream venue for every college basketball team.

Even Jerry West, the great player in Mountaineer history, couldn’t bring WVU a national title, a 71-70 loss in 1959 to California in the NCAA title game, but he did so well with 38 points and 15 rebounds that he became the first member of the losing team to be named NCAA Tournament MVP.

Until the mid-1950s the NIT was regarded as THE national title. Better teams chose the NIT over the NCAA.

So, if the Chiefs can win their second national title, why can’t this be the year that WVU wins its second true national title?

Case closed.

Yet you are so upset by the fact that WVU was the best team in 1942 according to the OP....

Too funny

Not upset just showing he is wrong about national title claim. No banner hangs in WVU coliseum claiming a national title. I don't know why a supposed Texas fan cares one way or the other. Get your foot out of your mouth.

Just like this board. It's why you troll here pretending to be a Tex fan. Gold Board rules.

Yet you post on this one still...

I only troll the people who deserve it.

Problem with Allen...
He is too stupid to figure things out

Are you that stupid...
They claim the 1942 NIT title..

They don't need to claim a NCAA NC because the NIT Championship is superior

That was the point the entire time....

That was the point from OP...

WVU won its ONLY national basketball title in 1942...

... why can’t this be the year that WVU wins its second true national title?

OP claims national Title. Temple the only team to win the NIT and given the national championship. NCAA started the year after that and was used for naming the champions of collegiate basketball.

No shit Sherlock. But no National Championship awarded for NIT. Except once in 1938-1939 season. CFE claims National Championship when fact shows Stanford as Champions.

But the NCAA NC was worthless...

The NIT was more important.

So therefore like the Chiefs winning the SB WVU won the SB in College Basketball

This has standing.
I wouldn't go as far as OP did but what he said has merit.

This was what the entire discussion was about.

Just switch the roles with the NIT and NCAA.
The NIT was considered a bigger tournament.

It had the teams the Basketball writers in NY thought were the best teams in the country
Like Long Island

Nothing wrong with hope and optimism.
Any WVU fan should be hoping this is a sign no matter how outrageous it is.

This is actually the franchises third
1962 AFL Championship

Before Lamar Hunt ran from Tex Schramm and the Cowboys
Nothing wrong with hope and optimism but this is not the right comparison for it. Comparing an NFL team winning a super bowl to wvu winning a national championship is comparing apples to oranges. The NFL has a salary cap, free agency and a draft system which college football does not. There is nothing stopping Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State from getting the best QB, RB in the same class. The worst NFL team will get to draft whomever they perceive as the best player. Cuyahoga may take some flack from certain posters but he brings it on himself when he starts threads like this with faulty logic.

Who gives a shit about more prestigious at the time. OP claimed National Title and it's not so.

You're still clueless as you base your claim on something such as NIT was more recognized. Except by the NCAA who are the ones that named COLLEGE CHAMPIONS after Temple won the NIT and was named National Champions. No other NIT champion ever was named NCAA Basketball National Champs.

Thanks for the supportive facts, TVZ. Any intelligent fan knows that winning the NIT was a bigger deal than winning the NCAA in 1942. Even as late as 1970 Al McGuire turned down an NCAA bid for an NIT bid, and won the NIT title. That's why the NCAA ruled in 1971 that no one could ever turn down an NCAA bid. Can you imagine anyone turning down a March Madness invitation. Yes, based on fact, WVU was national champ in basketball in 1942, whether you like it or not. No, NOT NCAA champ because that was nothing in 1942. NCAA had to switch its tournament from the Midwest to Madison Square Garden, like the NIT, to get anyone to take notice. Why is it so hard to believe the truth? And why attack someone for stating it? Oh, that's right, Killing The Messenger goes back centuries and centuries because the messenger told the King a truth that he didn't want to hear. At least I'm not bleeding. Progress!

Floyd “Scotty” Hamilton was an all-state player for Grafton High in West Virginia. Hamilton was the roly-poly play-making star of of West Virginia’s 1942 NIT national championship team. In the tournament, Hamilton led the last-seeded Mountaineers to a monumental 58-49 overtime win against Coach Clair Bee’s Long Island squad, which came into the game with a 42-game winning streak. After topping Toledo 51-39 in the semifinals, Hamilton helped WVU upend Western Kentucky 47-45 in the championship game. The Mountaineers finished 19-4. Hamilton averaged 8.7 points per game to become West Virginia’s first-ever basketball All-America selection. In 1943, Hamilton joined the Navy and served in World War II. Because you have posted this NIT nonsense at least 100 times on message boards, you clearly understand that others don't subscribe to your theory, and are desperate to convince others that your alma mater was the national champion in 1942. Stanford was the 1942 basketball national champion, and nothing that you or a fake Texas fan repeatedly post will ever change this fact.

Who are others....

A bunch of trolls.

What he said is claimed by numerous people even the university.

Recently they have called it being a National Tournament Champion

I have seen numerous newspaper from WV call it NIT National Championship.

Even the state legislature.

Can't deny this

He isn't comparing it.

He was wrong about the Chiefs as they won the 1962 AFL championshil as the Dallas Texans.

But he is saying that the Chiefs just won their second why can't WVU.

Just hope.
Why shit on and be a jerk.

Especially on a WVU message board.

These other idiots.

They are scum and have miserables lives and hate WVU more than they love their own teams

History doesn’t support your claim. Link the source that confirms WVU was declared the 1942 National Champ.

CFE's exact words:

"WVU won its ONLY national basketball title in 1942, when the NIT was THE national title. WVU won the NIT again in 2007, but it wasn’t THE national title by then."

No qualifying language used above. If you can't understand that the statement above is inaccurate, then I can't help you.
