Great hire. Neal Brown

Maybe Pitt will understand they can take a chance and upgrade as well , not stuck with that loser

DH was gone even at 4 million..

His issues were
1) Allocation of money for assistants
2) Facilities
3) Recruiting

Dana wanted to go somewhere that was committed to winning and people would write the checks

But....
He was not good enough to go to a school like that in a P5 conference.

So...
I think WV made the right choice

But...
WV needs to understand it takes money to win.
Same thing will happen with Neal Brown if he is good.

And Holgerson lost to Kansas, ISU, Syracuse, Utah St, amongst others, losing bowl record and just above 500 in conference. Wasn’t worth 4 million.

Hey dumb ass. You Texas boy on the WVU board. Dana didn't want to go. He was told to go.

He lost to 6-6 Utah not Utah State. Well actually embarrassed WVU

Big Texas mouth......little Texas brain

WVU has won 7 bowl games in the last 30 years. Brown has won 3 in the last 3 years. I know he's had easier competition but I get the impression he is better in bowls. Getting whacked by the likes of Syracuse and Utah State in bowls is just embarrassing.

If you take away the Pat White years (he won 4 straight) WVU has won 3 bowls in the last 30 years.

Didn't Troy lose to 6-6 Liberty this year? And beat 3-9 Texas State 12-7? Holy Cow that would scare me.

Alex, I'll take Holgorsen for 4 million.
He coached at troy, not like he had d1 talent...

He also got 3 10+ win seasons in a row
3 bowl wins
Beat lsu at lsu
Braska at braska
Almost beat clemson
And recruited 2 of the best classes ever at troy

DH wouldn't even use his 15 bowl practices

Used 8, and some of that was in a hotel

DH hate practices in the am... looking forward to a coach with a work ethic

Troy is happy.

They get money and keep the coach they really wanted
Koenning will be named HC today or early next week

Was he the brains behind it when he himself was a hc?

No...
A lot of times in the Group of 5 a HC is not.
Perfect example is Boise St.
Even TCU with Gary Patterson.
TCU promoted Patterson who was the DC and TCU was better than it was with Franchione.

WVU is happy with the coach it got. Houston is happy with the coach it got. If Troy hires the Koenig guy, or whoever it was that was mention, they will be happy with him.

Everybody is happy. Don’t see the problem.

WV is keeping Gibson because of his buy out from what I hear.

Watch Troy....

Troy is great in the SunBelt because of its D.

They have a good DL.
If Neal Brown was creating an explosive offense that was putting up 30+ points a game you are right

But...
Troy is not.

makes WVU better right from the start!

You don’t know that. Solid hire from a third or forth tier program. Calling it great is drama Queen City. If he takes WVU to next level and stays 5 years or more “great” would be appropriate. Huggins was a great hire.

Come on Freddy you’re better than that. The Pitts and WVUs have two choices. Hot big time assistants or low level head coaches. WVU went the other route last search.

They should have full games on YouTube from Nebraska and LSU.

Not all offensive coaches are like Dana...
Some like Dan Mullen and Tom Herman put their D in good positions.

So...Neal Brown could be helping his D.
But for the most part Troy is winning because they are keeping their opponents off the scoreboard

That would be 3 in 26 years if you took away the White years.
