Goal line stand

WVU had a goal line stand vs. Tennessee last season--probably a few others during the season.

That was a nice stand against Baylor, the D played well.

The goal line stand against Baylor was much more impressive. Tennessee is a weak team. Lost to a sunbelt team on there home field.

Any goal line stand is a thing of beauty.

But, that night in Blacksburg has to be the all-time classic. Wiley leaping over to stop Suggs - truly a piece of art.

Then, taking the safety only to have the punter shank the free kick out of bounds (only at WVU) giving them bums the ball at mid-field with enough time on the clock to drive for the win.

Only to have Mike Lorello pick off the pass intended for Ernest Wilford in the corner of the end zone to secure the best win up to that point in Rich Rod's career made it a great night to be a Mountaineer wherever you might have been (but especially for me since I was there and drunkingly sang Country Roads afterwards with several other WVU fans!)

It is a shame that this emerging defensive group has to be saddled with this year's offensive offense...a QB who can't throw...receivers who can't catch...running backs that run...and an offensive line that can't push.
