Please tell me what (other than his pedigree) makes you think that he can be successful.

I want him to succeed. If he does well, our program does well, but so far he has not shown even the slightest ability to run an offense at this level, much less throw a ball. I would ask you to think back to the first time that Geno got thrown into the game against Marshall...it was immediately clear that we had a young player there with talent. I just have not seen that yet with Crest.

His failure to develop is the single biggest disappointment for the 2015 WVU program IMO.

I'll bite. We don't know bc we haven't seen. Maybe he is a gamer that doesn't practice well. What I do know is that Howard is not very accurate, even his completions rarely hit a receiver on stride. He has the advantage supposedly bc he takes care of the ball yet he didn't look to his check down on every interception yesterday. Things that can be corrected, but one could argue for or against either based on what we have and have not seen.

I hope you are right. I must say, however, that we have seen some and what we have seen has not indicated a great outcome. I truly hope I am wrong because I have never believed that Skylar is THE answer...just the best we have right now. If this problem does not change, this will be a long season.

Well said ...and yep, I hope he develops that ability.
Something that would interest me is seeing him inserted for a different look from time to time, just a few plays a game...he has the raw talent, lets keep Okie St on their toes next week...and it puts just enough heat on Howard without removing him as starter...

Seriously, William Crest is no Pat White....not playing in this offense.

I know the qb missed some throws. He made some bad decisions, too. You have to consider he was sacked 7 times and hurried many more. Not many qbs would be successful under the circumstances IMO.

Having said that, you never really know what you have in a player until you put him under the lights. Guys like Trevor knight for ou perform much more consistently in practice than in the games under duress. Crest may be a better performer than a practice player. How old is he?

I'm pretty sure he can throw high on ever pass like Sky does.....much more dangerous with his feet though. I said at beginning of season that if competition was close then we should go with Crest as he has way more upside potential than Sky. As for Sky being pressured.....he holds the ball far too long, not many lineman can hold out pass blocks for 4 or 5 seconds especially the left side of our line. Many of his erratic passes come on slants and quick outs so pressure has nothing to do with that.
