Eight Named to Academic All-Big 12 Team

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 16, 2017) – Eight members of the West Virginia University baseball team have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team, the league announced.

Senior Jackson Sigman, junior Kyle Davis and sophomores Michael Grove and Chase Illig have been named to the first team, while senior Jackson Cramer and sophomores Cole Austin, Darius Hill and Jacob Potock were recognized on the second team.

Cramer and Davis have been named to an Academic All-Big 12 Team every season as Mountaineers. Cramer is on the list for the fourth time, and Davis for the third time in his career.

Austin, Grove and Sigman are being honored for the second time in their careers, after all three were recognized in 2016. This marks the first academic All-Big 12 honors for Hill and Potock.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade point average while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
