If RR is returning as our coach, it’s time for us to take a step back.... take a breath,...and remember what WVU represents. WVU is so much more than just its football program...it’s a symbol of pride for the entire state. It’s about community... tradition ... the experience of being a Mountainneer...
WVU isn’t just a football school. It has the makings of becoming a powerhouse in basketball... baseball, soccer, and countless other sports. It’s home to one of the best marching bands in the nation. For some of us being a Mountaineer is a defining part of their identity... I haven't lived in West Virginia for almost 40 years and I still identify myself as a Mountaineer and always will.. . Whether you cheer for WVU, Marshall, or both, we are all tied together by a deep love for our state and its people...at least the people I know are.
So, if RR returns to WVU upsets you, that’s fine. Not everyone will love every coach. But to say you’re done with this site or the WVU community because of one coaching hire...come on guys... That’s just silly. This program...and this university...are much bigger than one individual.
Let’s be real: what are you going to do now... Switch allegiance to Marshall, Pitt, or Penn State? WVU is more than a single team or a single coach. It’s a family. And families don’t quit on each other over disagreements....
If you don’t want to talk football.... then don’t. Dive into basketball discussions. Celebrate the success of our baseball or soccer teams. Head over to the political board and debate the latest issues. But punishing Vernon or anyone else here because you don’t like this hire...That’s over the line... it's not as if Vernon and Keno made this hire if true....
We’re all Mountaineers here....Let’s remember what unites us...not what divides us.... Bill Stewart once said in his Fiesta Biwl pre game speech don't ever leave your wingman.. never.. ever.. ever bail out on your brother you help.. you strain and you fight ...we are a family on the site some closer than other ones but goodness this about us not turing on each other...
