Bob Huggins is apparently being considered among six others. It should be noted this list is likely a very preliminary group of candidates.

Hugging may be the only one who wants the WVU job. Especially after the Neal Brown fiasco. Why we kept that idiot so long is beyond me but it got so bad people bought billboards. It was a stupid mistake to keep that loser beyond his fourth year but we did anyway and it turned the fan base, which was amazingly predictable. Anyone with semi decent social psychology skills saw that coming from a mile away. We warned ppl to let him go or it would end badly. We got ignored and called names, and it still blew up and ended badly. Whatever. You reap what you sow. Im sure Devries wasn't very impressed with the billboards.

I wish him well if he ends up at mcsneeze st.

If a 72-year-old washed up alcoholic is the only person that wants the basketball job, then we have real problems.

You can thank the previous AD for the Neal Brown mess. Holding WVU hostage with an outrageous buyout.

But what does Brown have to do with Bob Huggins alcoholism and melt down?

Perhaps the billboards made a bad impression on devries. That's all I'm saying. He was hired during a bad time when there was too much drama. Maybe it didn't but maybe it' did

If the problems have been going on for 6 years than why do you want Huggins back? Last I checked he was the guy for 4 of those 6 years.

I didn't say I wanted him back.
I said that we clearly did him wrong and he might be the only person that wants to coach here right now. I would only want him back if I think hes a better coach than who's available and it's quickly becoming that now so it won't shock me if I do want him back by tomorrow or so. I just want the best coach for the job. He very well might be that actually. But I do think a lot of this is because we made very bad decisions about Huggins.

You're the only one on here who keeps bringing this guy up. The guy is nothing more than average at this point. Wvu can find a coach whose average the question is can we find someone who can elevate us above average. Wvu did not do Huggins wrong. He brought these problems on himself. Huggins made a poor decision to get behind the wheel while wasted. This isn't the 1st time he has made that poor decision. I'm glad no one was hurt by Huggins on his drunken joy ride, but he could have killed someone. He should have learned his lesson after the Cincinnati DUI. The only blame WVU really could have in this matter is by enabling this behavior to go on as long as it did.

Seriously doubt Devries worried about billboards. Heck even I don't have any clue what billboards you're talking about.

Indiana is a former blueblood basketball program and he is tasked with bringing them back to that level. It's also the only school mentioned by Devries to Baker when he was hired as the one school he would leave for.

People assumed it was Iowa he wanted and we were all wrong.

The problem is Indiana and their tactics used in interviewing and hiring a coach.

Huggins is relevant because he may be the best coach available now who would actually coach here. We are quickly running out of options. Huggins is a hof coach who got screwed out of his legacy and real retirement by a bunch of woke idiots who have done more harm than good.

In what parallel universe am I living where Rich Rod was welcomed back to the university while Bob Huggins was responsible for the decline and death of the basketball program?

Only decline Huggins is responsible for is his own.

Football didn't die after Rod left. It continued having success. Perhaps not on the same level but it wasn't dead. Brown no doubt made it less than special. He was a heck of person and a good guy. He just couldn't get out of his own way and over thought every play.

Bring him home - it’s better than taking our 8th choice and dealing with this again in 3 years. Let Huggins go out with a tournament appearance and the program stays on solid footing. 2 years, the 2nd year we are actively scouting coaching talent in season so we aren’t blindsided in March, it’s the right move.

If WVU offered Huggins and he said no, it would serve them right. Huggins didn't destroy the program, they did. Every decision they made was a choice they didnt have to make. He should have been put on leave until things cooled off and the court case played out -- you know like most professional leaders wouldve done. Instead we strong armed his wife at 3am and cut our nose off to spite our face. What a bunch of idiots. We are reaping the rewards of the dumbass overemotional, pms-like decisions that the nerd weenies made without thinking literally any of it through. It would be hard to script worse leadership in a movie. You just can't make it up, and it's coming back to haunt us.

Why? He made millions here and not once did he even win a big 12 championship. He is an alcoholic that was driving drunk and could have killed people. Also when he did the radio interview with his infamous “fag” line he was obviously drunk and it as before noon.
The only infatuation of some people over that guy is strange.
He brought shame and ill fortune to WVU.

Bob is very wealthy. He loves to fish…..go to enjoy the hat time he has left.

Why? Because he might be the best coach we can get right now. They would never do it because it would solidify their already obvious stupidity, but the fact remains, the list of good coaches is shrinking fast.

So if a bunch of college kids throw condoms at basketball players then they earned the right to be called fags. Im glad Huggins called them fags and i wish he would call more people fags, like Gee and many others fron the admin side of things.

There’s like an 80% chance in any given year Kansas is winning the Big XII, everyone else gonna fire their coaches also? Besides, our standard is making the tournament not winning the conference, Bob met the standard more than anyone else in school history.

Rick Pitino took St. John’s, a dead Commuter School program that rents an arena for half its home games to national relevance. Pitino’s actions were far more egregious, Huggins is demonstrably sober as evidenced by his weight loss. Huggins last season was better than what got DeVries hired by Indiana. If he wants to coach and all better options have been exercised, then why not? Do we want another Eilert?

Why do you think they mattered? It was because of the coach and his history. Did Louisville hire Pitino back? No they didn't. Still waiting for Bob to admit he has a drinking problem.

Perhaps he should seek help at AA and do the 12 steps.

1. Admitted being powerless over alcohol — that your life had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a power greater than yourself could restore you to sanity.
3. Made a decision to change your life
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of yourself.
5. Admitted To yourself, and to another human being the exact nature of your wrongs.
6. Entirely ready to remove all defects of character.
7. Humbly asked to remove your shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons you harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when you were wrong promptly admitted it.
11. Sought to improve your consciousness and for knowledge of the power to carry that out.
12. Having had an awakening as the result of these steps, you tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all your affairs.

Do those 12 steps and admit you have a problem.

Rehiring Huggins doesn't guarantee any more success. Besides I thought the first goal was hire someone to win the Big 12. Huggins is below .500 in Big 12 conference.

How do you know he hasn’t done the 12 steps? He is not the coach of WVU, he has no obligation to tell the public about his sobriety although he has been documented as sober since the DUI as recently as February.

If there was a coach out there that gave us a better chance than Huggins to simply make the tournament, let alone the Big XII, Id be shocked. Baker wants to win the Big XII, and I want to retire before 40, somehow I think we’ll both be compromising.

What makes you think Huggins could ever win here again? You're thinking past not future. Bob couldn't even get the job at McNeese State. He had 10 good years at WVU. Hadn't been to sweet 16 since 2017-18. Embarrassed at home by Coastal Carolina in CBI tournament 2018-19. He was constantly claiming he would fix it. Did he?

We hired Rich Rod. Do you hate that?

What makes you think he can coach sober? What 80 year old assistants will sign up with him? No assistant coaches would want to be associated with a toxic coach that couldn't even get a job at McNeese State.

He's done. Deal with it. Should WVU acknowledge him more for what he's done? Yes. Should he be part of the program now in some capacity? Yes. But to hire him again as coach would be looking backwards and not forward. As Bob always said that's why he took off his review mirror.

Bob knows he screwed up why don't you know it?

lol is this a serious question? How did Pitino get assistants? Honestly we’d probably end up with Eilert again as an assistant, but there is no shortage of assistants trying to climb the ranks that will sit behind a HOFer who will be leaving in 2 years.

It’s not looking “backward”, it’s hiring the best available option. We tried for all of the hot candidates, they’re gone now, the portal is open and no one at WVU is recruiting. Might as well give it to the guy who knows the program better than everyone. It’s not “looking forward” to give the program to someone who isn’t qualified to do it. Going 10-21 next year is not an option.

Wasn't happy with it. But Rod had no problems finding jobs elsewhere. Was he successful elsewhere? Only at G4 level, IMO. Will he have success here again? I have no idea. He's got plenty of help. If he doesn't win at least 7 then we wasted our time and should seriously but him on the burners.

Huggins destroyed his own career here.

You people are freaking hilarious. I am 100% against it and I guarantee so is Wren.

This Ross Hodge guy doesn’t seem bad. The more I look into his past, he seems like he’s been successful everywhere he’s been.
I don't know what it would look like but I would rather hire him than a coach that nearly destroyed the university.

Well that's even worse. if they want to play those kind of jokes then they can get called those kind of names. The only people offended were a handful of sissy wvu fans. The rest of the country didn't care.

I don't think it was WVU fans offended. More like Cincinnati fans and their head coach Bob Huggins. Considering they cried about it on a local radio show. You interjecting WVU fans as the problem is incorrect.
