I was reading about the fine Jimbo got and it was mentioned that it's legal to block below the waist if it's front to front. So why was that a penalty on Crawford which negated the huge gain by Durant?

They called the chop block simply because they can. The refs can be biased and other times just don't really know the rule(s). Also, things happen real fast on the field. Some calls are not review-able. I don't know about the chop block.

For Jimbo's complaints.

See Tim Donaghy of NBA officiating fame as 1 possible reason.

Others are:
-makeup call
-bias from the ACC wanting to help keep Clemson up there & undefeated
-stupidity from the ref (should never be under estimated)
-SPITE ie hates Jimbo more than Dabo-this does happen especialy when the coaches cuss like crazy at the refs-they're human

As for Crawford, I saw the play and thought that is a good block. If that's illegal then football needs to just with flags and no contact. It was violent but not illegal. The game is getting touchy. Barrett Green nor Jahmille Addae could play in this era.

Also Big XII refs are particularly crazy with some of their calls. Historically they've made some calls that give rise to conspiracy theories.

I think it was called because the Oklahoma State player flipped through the air. The Oklahoma State sideline all crying plus the fans gasping plus the player flipping equals penalty.

Crawford was on his knees and still made a great block.

Officials want to standout now as much as the players and it's causing officiating to to be worse and more inconsistent than ever.

White gets called for PI and Oklahoma State has more than one instance where a receiver pushed off.

But then they don't call WVU for defensive PI when it was obvious. The official even reached for the flag but just to show he had the "power & control" chose not to call it.

Until these refs get it through their thick egomaniac water heads that people watch football to see the players and not the officials it's not going to get any better.

False start, #67 on the offense, that's a FIVE yard penalty. And it is still, First Down!
