DURHAM, N.C. (Aug. 16, 2023) – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team opens its 28th season of competition on the road, as it takes on No. 4 Duke in Durham, North Carolina, on Thursday, Aug. 17. Action inside the Blue Devils’ Koskinen Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Evan Budrovich and Brian Hand will have the call of Thursday’s season opener on ACC Network Extra. Live stats from the match also are available at WVUsports.com.

Entering her 28th season as the program’s only head coach, Nikki Izzo-Brown has led the Mountaineers to a 383-130-69 overall record. WVU returns 18 letterwinners off the 2022 squad, as well as eight starters. Eight newcomers are set to join the team this fall, including seven freshmen and one transfer.

Fifth-year senior goalkeeper Kayza Massey was named to the 2023 Preseason All-Big 12 Team, her first career honor after being selected as the 2022 Big 12 Co-Goalkeeper of the Year a season ago. WVU returns three of five players who earned All-Big 12 accolades last fall, including Massey, who was recognized on the first team. Additionally, senior midfielder AJ Rodriguez and junior forward Dilary Heredia-Beltran were selected to the second team.

West Virginia was picked to finish fourth in the 2023 Big 12 Preseason Poll, as selected by the league’s 14 head coaches. The 2023 campaign marks the inaugural season for conference newcomers BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF. The Mountaineers will meet Cincinnati, Houston and UCF this season.

Thursday’s matchup marks the seventh meeting all-time between West Virginia and Duke, as the Mountaineers hold a 3-2-1 advantage in the series. West Virginia also boasts a 1-0-1 lead in games played in Durham. WVU and Duke are set to square off for the first time since the 2020-21 season, when the Mountaineers claimed a 3-2 win over the Blue Devils in Morgantown.

Robbie Church is in his 23rd season as the head coach at Duke, with an overall mark of 287-140-63 in his time in Durham. In 2022, Duke recorded a 15-5-3 campaign and earned another trip to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. The Blue Devils also capped the year with a 6-2-2 mark in ACC play and advanced to the ACC Tournament Semifinals.

Duke returns five starters and 15 letterwinners this season, while welcoming the No. 6 incoming class in the nation. Sophomore Kat Rader was named to the 2023 Preseason All-ACC Team after being named the ACC Freshman of the Year at the end of the 2022 campaign.

Feminist medical school professor says trans kids identifying as 'minotaurs' are part of 'gender revolution'

Oh @Soaring Eagle 74. Come out and defend Democrat policies. Trump policies have you so bent out of shape, you eat, sleep and breathe Trump. What policies of his caused that for you? You like the alternative, so tell us what's to like about Dem policies?

What's the left's obsession with our children and why are you okay with it? Let's debate. Let's hear that intellect of yours.

LINK: A California hospital executive and professor claimed children can identify as a mythology-inspired creature and claimed that this category of children love mermaids, according to a presentation reviewed by Fox News Digital.

Diane Ehrensaft, a self-identified "feminist" who supports a "gender revolution," is the director of mental health and chief psychologist at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital gender development center. She is also a professor at UCSF School of Medicine. The developmental and clinical psychologist specializes in pediatric "gender-affirmative care for transgender and gender-expansive patients."

Her biography paged reflected that Ehrensaft focuses her research on how genders before puberty develop as well as the mental health effects of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, which are part of chemical sex changes, on children.

Ehrensaft made what some may consider fringe claims about gender ideology, including that kids can identify as "gender hybrids" which include a mythology-inspired creature called a "gender Minotaur," and that kids can change their genders by season and can have different identities depending on their location.

According to Britannica, a "Minotaur" is derived from Greek mythology and was a creature which had the body of a man and the head of a bull.

"I totally agree we are in the midst of a gender revolution and the children are leading it. And it's a wonderful thing to see. And it's also humbling to know [children] know more than we do about this topic of being gender expansive," she said during a 2018 talk at the San Francisco Public Library.

Ehrensaft believes the transgender revolution is the next phase of the 60s feminist movement, which featured challenging stereotypes about gender.

"Now, we've got genders moving boulders, and it makes a lot of people nervous," she said.

Ehrensaft believes that transgenderism is derived by a "gender web" which is influenced by culture, upbringing and nature.

"Each person's web will change over time as they age," the event's description said. "What's Your Gender? (Pretty simple answer. If you have a vagina, you're a female. If you have a penis, you're a male. That's a biological fact. There is no other possible answer. period.) Don't answer until you hear all your options… Ehrensaft wants you to get off the binary measurement scale."

She introduced language such as "genderfluid," "non-binary" and "gender expansive." She then predicted the language will evolve beyond that, and cited her conversation with a 7-year-old as proof that there can be "gender minotaurs" and hybrids.

"And as you know, language is political. So what's good today will be politically incorrect tomorrow. So we'll just keep changing as we go," said Ehrensaft. "This is a whole group of kids you all should know about."

"A boy… twirled [in my office]… and said to me, 'You see, I'm a Prius… I'm a boy in the front, and I'm a girl in the back."

Ehrensaft then said that "gender Minotaurs" love mermaid content.

"I started meeting a whole bunch of other gender hybrids. And so we have the gender Prius, we have a gender Minotaur," she said. "And most of the kids who are gender minotaurs love mermaids. So make sure you have a lot of mermaid books. If you really you think about it, it works."

Fox News Digital reached out to Ehrensaft and the children's hospital for comment but did not receive a response.
