Very Quick Baseball Scrimmage Post

Watched all 12 innings. Was a bit of a snoozer. Sunday is pro scout day for the draft eligible (‘24) guys so none of our real dudes threw Friday night and the starters only played 6 innings so there wasn’t much to see.

Freshman pitching had a rough night. Meyer was sitting 96-97 but was having some trouble locating. Yehl had a good outing. Estridge was solid in one inning. Amos walked a couple but came roaring back to life late and didn’t allow a run with a couple Ks flashing a wipeout slider.

Transfer Brodie Kresser impressed me at short. Also looked comfortable at the plate, drove in a run and made a spectacular play that almost turned a double play on a ball deep in the 5-6 hole.

Bats were generally quiet, but JJ hit a bomb, several extra base hits that were scattered in places that didn’t involve runs.

Hussey had a quiet night at the plate, but drew two walks and had an approach that look more comfortable and patient. Zero Ks in 4 PAs and two fly outs. Interestingly was on the front end of a double steal and was safe at third but they nabbed West at second behind him. Never seen him move that well.

King is gonna be a plus defender in CF. Tracked down a line drove in the RF gap that reminded me of Victor Scott.

Looks like White is going catch behind Sauve. Probably will DH when he isn’t catching.

starters were:

JJ- 2B
Sauve- C
Huss- 1B
Egar- 3B
West- LF
Kresser- SS
Cox- RF
Chumley-DH
King- CF

I am gonna go ahead and say it’s gonna be very difficult for the Freshman position guys to see the field this season.

Going to be at the Liberty scrimmage end of Oct as well. Should have a better idea what we have then but I like the talent at positions. I feel like our pitching staff from top to bottom is better than last year’s.

Should be another very competitive, super fun team to follow.

All that said, EAT SCHITT PITT!
