A foe Virginia hasn’t faced in more than two decades is being added to the Cavaliers’ list of future opponents.
UVa will square off with West Virginia in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium in the 2026 and 2032 seasons, UVa deputy athletic director Tyler Jones said. An official announcement is expected Wednesday afternoon.
“We’re really excited about it,” said Jones, who handles football scheduling and did the legwork on booking the Mountaineers.
“We haven’t played WVU in a while,” he said. “It’s been a long time, but just the regionality of it was appealing and the fact that we haven’t played the Mountaineers in quite some time is appealing. And then, the location. Charlotte is an easy drive for both fan bases.”
