JD Vance’s ‘Constitutional Crisis’ in the Making

Americans don't want an authoritarian government. MAGA needs to pack their bags and head for Russia where they'll finally be happy.

JD Vance’s ‘Constitutional Crisis’ in the Making

One key policy pushed repeatedly by Vance and outlined in Project 2025 is Trump’s controversial “Schedule F” proposal, which would strip civil service protections from potentially tens of thousands of federal employees so that they can be replaced by Republican political appointees.

Most provocatively, Vance has suggested in a series of interviews this year that Trump should defy the Supreme Court if the justices invalidated the effort.

Vance’s proposal for Trump to simply defy the Supreme Court if it threw out Schedule F is also deeply concerning. It runs contrary to our collective, basic and firmly embedded civic understanding that the Supreme Court has the last word on what the law is in this country, for better or worse. Americans may not like it — they frequently and at times vocally do not — but it is a broadly accepted fact of American governance, and Vance’s evident willingness to reject it is worrisome.

“It certainly feeds into concerns that people have expressed about authoritarianism as an element of his thought,” Farber told me. “That’s not the sort of thing leaders in a democracy say — and definitely not about relatively routine legal issues.”

WVU Release Mountaineers Claim Sun Belt Regular Season Title

Mountaineers Claim Sun Belt Regular Season Title

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Nov. 5, 2024) The No. 10 West Virginia University men’s soccer team took home its first Sun Belt regular season title in program history on Tuesday, escaping a hostile environment at No. 8 Marshall with a 0-0 draw. The Mountaineers finish with 19 points, two clear of the Thundering Herd in the conference table.

Overall, West Virginia goes 10-1-6 on the season while Marshall goes to 9-1-6.

The Mountaineers are the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Tournament and will play Georgia Southern, Sunday at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium with kickoff set for 3 p.m.

The WVU defense was phenomenal on Tuesday evening, allowing just three shots on goal against the high-powered Marshall attack. Redshirt-senior Marc Bonnaire made three saves to earn his eighth clean sheet of the season.

Overall, Marshall outshot the Mountaineers, 13-7, with a 3-2 edge on shots on goal. West Virginia had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks while Marshall committed seven fouls to WVU’s six in a relatively clean contest.

Marshall had three of the best chances in the game, first hitting the crossbar in the 28th minute. In the second half, the Thundering Herd looked to have open nets as they got past Bonnaire, but the WVU defenders stayed calm and cut off angles, forcing a pair of shots to go wide.

The best chances for the Mountaineers came late in the first half, but shots by junior Felix Ewald and sophomore Sam Nyenka were saved.

With Marshall needing a win, the Thundering Herd kept the attack on, earning two corner kicks in the final five minutes but could not find the back of the net.

Overall, it is the eighth conference title and third regular season championship in program history, having won the Big East in 2006 and the MAC in 2018.

Five Thoughts: WVU 87 Robert Morris 59 & an updated outlook

My Fiver on WVU's big win over Robert Morris to start the Darian DeVries Era in Morgantown Monday night...

1. Sencire Harris. 4 points on 2-3 shooting (0-0 3pt), 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist, 1 steal, 0 TO in 25 minutes - that box score isn't exactly going to jump out at you. But, Harris was my MVP Monday night. This kid is a DAWG. Ballhawk. When we landed the boatload of transfers to construct this team, I'll admit I was far more excited about Tucker DeVries, Amani Hansberry, even Jayden Stone. But, right now, I want this kid on the floor as much as humanly possible. He plays so damn hard, he's going to need breaks. And the nice thing about his defensive intensity is that it's contagious. The other guys feed off of it. How good were our defensive possessions before the first media TO? We go into the first media TO up 16-0. And my favorite part of Harris's game is the 3 blocked shots. He never gives up.

2. Tucker DeVries. DeVries is obviously a big time player. It's going to be fun to watch him go up against better competition, but more than anything else, it's nice to have a bonafide sniper on our squad surrounded by guys who can penetrate if needed or pickNpop if necessary. It's going to be difficult to overplay him with Javon Small and KJ Tenner running point, or with Amani Hansberry or Jonathan Powell setting screens. 18 points on 6/13 shooting including 4/9 from "3" is a great way to start the season. Love the fact that he has a quick trigger and seemingly no conscience.

3. KJ Tenner and Jon Powell are damn good as freshmen. I'll give Darian DeVries a lot of credit having these two true freshmen not only ready to play, but ready to be an integral part of our top 8 in rotation with absolutely no dropoff when they enter the game. Powell is going to be a big time player for us. And I feel great for the future knowing we have Tenner in the fold at point. Those two combine for 5/9 from "3" and 21 points off of the bench - and in 36 combined minutes have zero turnovers.

4. Our "5" position will be interesting to watch this season. Amani Hansberry hits for 9 points and 12 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal in 26 minutes. Eduardo Andre went for 4 points, 4 rebounds and a block in 14 minutes. I'd like to see Hansberry get hot from outside, as we'll need his ability to stretch defenses. 1-4 from "3" was fine, but not real good. He's going to be a great PnR option for DeVries, Okani, Small, etc. this season, as he can not only roll to the rim for a lob, but can pickNpop if necessary. You lose that ability with Andre on the floor...but we're going to need 15 minutes a night from Andre. That does worry me a bit, as Andre isn't exactly up to Big 12 standards. He's going to struggle a bit vs. better competition, and you just hope he's able to rim protect, rebound and get the occasional putback while in for Hansberry.

5. Outlook after game 1? Well, TeamRankings.com has WVU pegged at 13-16 projected after Game Uno, #74 in the country, #13 in the Big 12 and 1n 18% chance to make the Dance. I liked what I saw Monday night, thoroughly enjoyed the 30-2 start, and enjoyed the refreshing new style of basketball we play. We let our guard down as the game wore on, but that was inevitable. We still were +8 in the 2nd half after going into the break with a 20-point lead. Darian DeVries has put together a team with great length across 1-4, great athleticism, shooters everywhere you look, a couple defensive specialists, and big time point guard play with Small and seemingly with Tenner. This team will be able to compete with most, if not all, opponents on our schedule. We look well-coached and connected. While we'll have off nights here and there, there is potential here to be Dancing in March.

fascists cheatin' on the 2024 Election... TODAY !!! ... amazing that ALL this cheatin' IS FROM ONE SIDE

Madison – In what can only be described as openly defiant and breath-taking behavior on behalf of the three democrats on the Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC), state election law appears to have been deliberately and purposely ignored on June 27th at the WEC Meeting regarding the reappointment of the Administrator of Elections.

The Wisconsin Election Commission’s three Democrats voted to “abstain.” The three Republicans voted to move the appointment matter of the Administrator forward on the appointment consideration of the Administrator of Elections Position. This caused a deadlock so that the current Administrator would, in the Democrats’ mind, remain in place indefinitely.

Wisconsin voters were then invited by these three Democrats to sue them in court if they didn’t like their decision on the Wisconsin Election Commission to keep the Administrator of Elections in place indefinitely.

The current Administrator of Elections, Meagan Wolfe was legally and statutorily appointed to a 4-year term in 2019 that is, by law, scheduled to “expire” at 12:01 A.M. on July 1, 2023, per Wisconsin State Statute 15.61 (1) (b) – see here Wisconsin Legislature: 15.61.

The legal and public June 27, 2023, WEC Agenda, (see here Special Meeting 6/27/2023 | Wisconsin Elections Commission) specifically had as an agenda item the consideration of an Interim Administrator as the Administrator for the 4-year Term “Expiring” on July 1, 2027.

The three Democrats on the Commission immediately expressed what was on their mind. On how Wisconsin is so fortunate to have someone of Wolfe’s stature to administer elections in Wisconsin that has become the envy of so many election officials across America.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Robin Vos (R-Rochester), joined many other Republican elected officials in calling for the resignation of Meagan Wolfe in 2021 due to, what was in their opinion and observation, the gross and negligent mishandling of the 2020 Presidential Election in Wisconsin supposedly decided by 20,682 votes under very suspicious administration of elections activity.

The three Democrats then went on to stipulate in some fashion that they don’t have the “authority”, “jurisdiction” or “power” to address the appointment matter for the Administrator position on the agenda.

The three Democrats then went on to disclose that they believe there is no “vacancy” in the Administrator Position per Statute 15.61 (1) (b) and 17.03 and therefore, Meagan Wolfe, can remain Administrator indefinitely and no appointment vote is needed on behalf of the Commission.

Democrats being Democrats, purposely conflated the Administrator’s Term expiring on July 1, 2023, with the statutory language of “vacancy” in statute 15.61 and 17.03 to deliberately confuse the issue and control the narrative and optics for the press and media in Wisconsin to provide what appears to be cover for them and the current Administrator.

Vacancy, per Statute 17.03, only applies to “public office”, not Agency Administrators.

Democrats then went on to argue that the Prehn Decision would allow the current Administrator to remain in place indefinitely.

The Prehn Decision involved a DNR Board Member and not the Administrator of a major Wisconsin government agency who just happens to have an effect on the administration of elections in Wisconsin.

In an absolute act of arrogant defiance of State Election Law and specific statutory responsibilities for the Wisconsin State Senate, Democrat Commissioner Thomsen, a practicing attorney, then proudly stated:

“I will take my shot with the courts rather than the Senate.”

To view the arrogant and condescending behavior and attitude of the Democrats’ total disregard for state election law, please view the attached 43-minute video from yesterday’s meeting.

A wise man once asked, “Do you know what the difference is between a snake and a Democrat? There are just some things a snake won’t do.”

What’s the pathway forward for Democrat lawbreakers?

Democrats seem to have a propensity to use the courts to find ways around the law.

Republicans seem to only use the courts to have the laws enforced.

Wisconsin needs to ask itself once and for all, “When is enough, enough with these law-breaking Democrats who have unlimited resources and dare anyone to sue them in hopes of getting their way while everyone else just gives up and surrenders.”

Wisconsin deserves better and hopefully, some very wise and dedicated people will not give up and do the right thing by addressing the latest attempt of Democrats to be in your face by openly breaking the law involving the administration of elections with integrity.

t attempt of democrats to be in your face by openly breaking the law involving the administration of elections with integrity.
