What is the upside for this team? We, at long last, have a true PG. According to all reports, Battle is our most talented player at a critical position, SG. Farrakhan looks to have the athleticism needed to be a positive force off the bench. And it may be possible that Battle and Farrakhan play at the same time for extended periods giving us good outside scoring options. Edwards was abused and hopefully learns from that experience. Akok is getting his sea legs and hopefully gets better and better. Slazinski helps us spread the floor. As does Harris. And we have both Kobe and Wilson coming off the bench, which is what their talent level demands. We now have adequate depth with decent quality.
On the negative side, the team is soft. Defense is a huge problem. As is rebounding against better opponents in large part due to that softness. And we have a very, very young and inexperienced coaching staff that will likely be unable to get the most out of the talent we have.
I still think of what could have been if that drive into the Burgh never happened. The best talent ever assembled under Huggs. But we are where we are. And we have to hope that Josh and crew can get this ship righted as we head into Big 12 play. A tall task indeed. But it will be very interesting and perhaps fun to watch as this team does have pretty good talent.
