Let’s be honest…Brown has recruited well at WVU but the development and retention was atrocious his first 4 years.
But he really seems to have turned the corner.
We now have guys like Greene, White, Donaldson, Martin, Burks, Clement, Yates, Vesterinen, Ray, Davis, etc that were recruited from high school that are now major contributors and important pieces to the team.
And we just aren’t developing the players, they are sticking around. Our portal losses have been minimal this year. We haven’t lost a Tykee Smith, Jordan Jefferson, Akheem Mesidor type. In fact, I am surprised how few players elected to depart during the spring cycle. The retention has been so good have that we have the opposite problem now where you actually need/want to open up a few slots.
We are at the point of labeling every new transfer as a depth piece. Not because of their quality just because we have so few obvious holes in the top 22.
I know that I have been critical. But right now, you just have to applaud and say, “well done, coach brown.”
