This is nowhere close to a final list, just some early names that could be looked at.

Seth Littrell - Littrell was most recently the head coach at North Texas from 2016-22, amassing a 44-44 record during that time. The Oklahoma native has ties to the West Virginia program considering his athletic director moved over to Morgantown and his ties to the air raid system. Before Littrell was the head coach of North Texas he spent time as a successful offensive coordinator at Arizona, Indiana and North Carolina. If the Mountaineers stick with the air raid it makes sense.

Travis Trickett - Trickett is no stranger to West Virginia as he has spent multiple stints in Morgantown across different periods of time as he started his career as a student assistant and graduated from the school. Trickett then returned to campus under head coach Neal Brown as a tight ends coach after previously serving as an offensive coordinator at Samford, Florida Atlantic and Georgia State. Trickett took the offensive coordinator job at South Florida after spending multiple seasons in Morgantown and is a candidate to watch for a return given the ties and his credentials.

Clint Trickett - Trickett was named the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Marshall this past season after serving as the pass game coordinator/wide receivers coach for the Herd during the 2021 campaign. Trickett came to Marshall from Florida Atlantic where he served as the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. There are obvious ties here after Trickett transferred to West Virginia from Florida State during his playing days and had two successful years on the field.
