“Word for word, comma for comma, a perfect transcript”

Why in the world is this so hard for people to grasp?

It is a Memorandum of Telephone Conversation. It is not a verbatim transcript. Even the White House admits that. At the bottom of the first page of what the White House released is a note in plain language that says it is NOT a verbatim transcript. People who call it a transcript have either not read the document (in which case they have no business talking about it) or they have read it and are misleading whomever they are talking to.

here’s a link to the White House’s release: https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Unclassified09.2019.pdf

Want to resolve all the wasted talk about what was actually said? The White House could release the audio recording of the conversation.

Pretty sure that they do not record these conversations out of respect for the other parties involved. That is why multiple people listen and and agree on the memo...

It was recorded. The recording was transferred to a Classified server, which is unusual for this type of call.

I agree that he is challenged in that respect, but in this context, the audio recording is considered by the courts to be what is called the Best Evidence of the contents. And it just is common sense.

they would have already had the call been perfect

The Ukrainegate coverup continues....good times. Nixon did the same thing.

"I had a transcript done by very, very talented people -- word for word, comma for comma," said Trump at one point in that early October news conference. "Done by people that do it for a living. We had an exact transcript." Later, he added that the document was "an exact transcript of my call, done by very talented people that do this -- exact, word for word."
