Milum Named Sporting News All-American

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (December 18, 2024) –
West Virginia University senior offensive lineman Wyatt Milum was named to The Sporting News’ All-America First Team as announced by the organization.

Milum, a senior from Kenova, West Virginia, was honored as the Big 12 Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year, named to the all-conference first-team squad and becomes the 18th Mountaineer named to the all-time FWAA All-America list. He also is WVU's 50th All-America selection since 2002. The program now has 113 All-Americans overall.

Milum gives the Mountaineers consecutive Sporting News All-America honors as Zach Frazier and Beanie Bishop Jr. were named to the team in 2023 and is the fifth since 2020. Darius Stills was named a first team selection in 2020 and Tykee Smith earned second-team honors.

Milum is the seventh WVU offensive lineman to earn Sporting News All-American first- or second-team (3 on first team, four on second team) accolades (First Team – Milum- 2024 – OT; Dan Mozes – 2006 – C; Mike Compton – 1992 – OL; Second Team - Zach Frazier, 2023 – OL; Ryan Stanchek – 2007 – OT; Garin Justice – 2005 – OT; Brian Smider – 1988 – OT).

This recent honor for Milum marks the fifth (Walter Camp – first team, AFCA – first team, AP – second team, FWAA – first team) of the five All-America teams that make up the consensus team.

He has played in 47 games, started 43, and has been used on 2,951 snaps over his four-year career. This season, he has helped WVU rank No. 9 among Power 4 schools in rushing yards per game (192.7). WVU is one of two FBS school with three players to have at least 600 rushing yards. In 2023, he helped the Mountaineer rushing attack claim the No. 1 spot among Power 4 schools, averaging 228.9 yards per game

Milum also has not allowed a sack in 34 of the past 36 games in which he played, including not allowing any over the past two seasons. He was named a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy, given to the nation's best interior lineman.

In 2024, Milum also has not allowed a quarterback hurry and only seven pressures. PFF College lists Milum as its No. 3 offensive tackle in the nation, grading out at 90.1. His 84.2 run-blocking grade is No. 6 and his pass-blocking grade (89.8) is No. 4. The offense has run for at least 140 rushing yards in 26 of its last 28 games since 2022.
