WVU's kicking game is awesome - thanks to this man:

You suck and are a horrible poster. I guess Vernon keeps you around because traffic on his free board is terrible.

I like Defo, but you are embarrassing yourself. Anytime a coach gets demoted and takes a pay cut, he's not "the best in the country."

Thankfully Deforest is in the right position now. And the three All American caliber safties prove that he is.

It is impossible for anyone to be embarrassed on a free idiot board including you. Dana Holgorsen, Mack Brown, and Mike Gundy are saying that DeForest is the best and I just happen to agree with them. He has established a great kicking game at WVU and a lot of our low information posters are now eating crow ( and don't like it). And yes I am enjoying pointing that out to them.

I think he has found a home and has done a great job last season and this season so far. Even good players need coached. As bad as he did in the beginning, he has more than made up for it on STs and DBs. Good job Coach! Keep it going.

Maybe so, but he was left was a bare cupboard. Joining a power conference without the appropriate players would have challenged any assistant coach in the country. Holgorsen had a hard time finding anyone willing to even take on that challenge.

WVU is lucky to have Joe DeForest and it is only because of his friendship with Holgorsen that he hasn't moved on to greener pastures.

.........yeah, that and I figure that other teams probably haven't been beating down his door with other options.

I offer that it is likely ONLY because of his relationship with Holgorsen that he is still employed at WVU following the previous years of special team disappointment. Granted, they have shown great improvement this year, but lets see how they play against better competition before crowning DeForest the Grand Poobah of Special Teams.

This thread started off by acknowledging the person who has been responsible for WVU kicking game. It just happened to be a man who was unfairly blamed for a lot of WVU's shortcomings in past years. Ignoring the Dave, Hank, and aliases' comedy routine plus a few trivial insults, it is encouraging to see others starting to agree with Holgorsen and pay tribute to the great job DeForest is doing for our program. It is football so anything can happen, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us beat a few conference opponents on the strength of our kicking game.

Good job Joe!

College football and it's money has by and large turned me away from the sports world. At least I don't have the same pride in the game as I once had. I have lost about 90% of the burn. Yes.............I am sick and tired of the prima donna folks like Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer, etc. thinking they are special because they coach a stinking football team!

Wasn't Keith Patterson in charge of the defense that year (he seems to be doing a great job for Arizona State)? I guess you could blame that Baylor loss on a lot of people. If you start blaming the loses on assistant coaches then do they get some credit for the wins. WVU is 2-1 against Baylor since joining the conference. And how about the Maryland and OSU wins last year - don't you have to put weights on both sides of the scale. And yes there were major personnel issues IMO in 2013 especially on the defense.

he was the co-dc..wow..DeForest served as an assistant coach at Duke (1994-2001) as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator. He was hired by Les Miles in 2001 at Oklahoma State University as the Special Teams Coordinator and secondary coach. He remained at Oklahoma State until 2012 and served as the Associate Head Coach, Special teams Coordinator, and safeties coach. Under his tutelage, he coached Matt Fodge, a Ray Guy Award winner and Dan Bailey, a Lou Groza Award winner. He also coached and recruited several NFL players including Darrent Williams (Denver Broncos), Jacob Lacey (Indianapolis Colts), Markelle Martin (Tennessee Titans), Dan Bailey (Dallas Cowboys), Ryan Fowler (Tennessee Titans), Patrick Mannelly (Chicago Bears) and Russell Okung, (Seattle Seahawks). 2012, In 2012, he was hired by Dana Holgorsen to serve as the defensive coordinator for the West Virginia University Mountaineers. He will be WVU's Associate Head Coach and special teams coordinator for the 2013 season. After a terrible stint as defensive coordinator at WVU, he was placed in charge of Special Teams for the 2014 campaign

So what exactly is it you are claiming DeForest does for the kickers? Are you saying he is a kicking coach? He teaches them the fundamentals of punting and place kicking? I want specifics on what you are crediting him for when it comes to special teams...

This thread is about you being mocked for stroking deforest and making outlandish claims. When you were laughed down you started claiming everyone was hank. When i pointed out you were wrong you started calling me dumb. The only thing you have been correct about in this thread is that deforest has been demoted to safeties coach and kickers coach. He has hopefully found a spot that isnt over his head. Hope schmitts saloon stays open.

People have been calling you and Hank " dumb and dumber" for as long as I can remember. And between the two, we all know who is dumber. If it wasn't so monotonous (hundred of thousands of postings, multiple aliases, townie resentment against WVU, etc., etc.), it would be comical. I provided links and quotes from Big 12 coaches and you provided . . . . . . . . nothing. Same old same old.

You, Hank, and all of your aliases have found a good home on Marshall's smack board. Now go home and give it a rest.

Ive never posted under an alias. I have no resentment toward WVU. Our results are all the evidence i need. Anyone who reads your inane ramblings knows who is dumber. Nobody is backing you up here. Thread fail.

WestBGVA....Post # 323810.................................and your point is? Doesn't DeFo still wear his hat turned backwards? How old is he? How old are some other folks around here? Get my drift? These coaches are paid megabucks to jump around, get angry over missed field goals and cry and whine like little girls and boys. I'm over it! You need to get over it as well. With over 300,000 posts you must be worn out!

TorontoEERs...................you know the mans ain't bonafide! Defo ain't bonafide either! Any mans that is married with children needs to pull their pants up and turn that hat around to the front! I saw Defo at the mall with his extended family. They all were holding their pants up by walking real funny and sporting the mullet hair do! Funny stuff!

Just saw they shut the smack board down due to stupidity. Hank is homeless again.
