MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Feb. 1, 2025) – The No. 21-ranked West Virginia University women's basketball team collected its first ranked win of the season after defeating No. 24 Oklahoma State, 54-37, on Saturday afternoon inside the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.
The win over a ranked opponent marks the third time Hayhurst Family Head Coach Mark Kellogg has come out on top against a team featured in the AP Poll. It is the Mountaineers' first of its kind this season.
West Virginia put forth its best defensive performance of the season, limiting Oklahoma State to just 11 field goals and a 21.2% mark from the floor. WVU pressured the Cowgirls into a season-low 37 points, a mark 43 points below their season average of 80 points per game this season. OSU finished with just two assists in the game.
Junior guard Sydney Shaw finished with a game-high 18 points on 7 of 10 made field goals, including three from beyond the arc. Senior guard JJ Quinerly finished in double figures for the 21st time this season with 15 points. She added a career-high eight steals in the win as WVU finished with 15 steals for the contest. The Norfolk, Virginia native added four assists and four rebounds.
Quinerly’s 15 points in the game pushed her to No. 7 on the all-time scoring list with 1,747, behind Talisha Hargis (1995-98) with 1,747. She is 3rd in steals with 300 and passed Hall of Famer Rosemary Kosiorek (1989-92) who has 293 on the list.
Junior guard Jordan Harrison finished with a team-high six assists, guiding WVU to 10 in the game, as senior Kyah Watson led WVU with nine rebounds. It is the 16th time this season Watson has led the Mountaineers' effort on the glass.

OSU failed to score over the final seven minutes of the first as WVU took a 10-6 lead after the first. The Mountaineers scored the opening six points of the second to take a 16-6 lead at the 6:06 mark.
