WVU Release WVU Women's Basketball - West Virginia Earns No. 6 Seed in NCAA Tournament

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 16, 2025) – The West Virginia University women's basketball team (24-7, 13-5 Big 12) was selected as a No. 6 seed for the 2025 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, announced Sunday evening.



West Virginia opens the first round against No. 11-seeded Columbia or Washington in the Birmingham 2 Region of this year's 68-team bracket, at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Mountaineers will take on Columbia or Washington on Saturday, March 22.



Second-round games will be played on Monday, March 24.



Times and television designations for first and second-round games from Carmichael Arena remain to be determined.



The other teams featured in WVU's portion of the first and second-round bracket include No. 3 North Carolina and No.14 Oregon State.



WVU will be making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season and for the 16th time in program history.
