Running back Elijah Wellman made his fi rst career start for the Mountaineers at Oklahoma. Wellman makes 34 Mountaineers who have at least one game of starting experience.

Karl Joseph made his team-leading 42nd start today.

Oklahoma’s touchdown with 8:45 remaining in the fi rst quarter marked the fi rst points given up by the WVU defense in the fi rst half this season.

Rushel Shell’s fi ve-yard touchdown run during the fi rst play of the second quarter was his third rushing touchdown of the season and 10th of his career. WVU’s drive was seven plays and 86 yards.

Jovon Durante’s one-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter was his third touchdown reception of the season. The passing touchdown was the 10th of the season for Howard and 18th of his career.

WVU’s fumble recovery in the third quarter was forced by Daryl Worley, the fi rst of his career. The fumble was recovered by Nick Kwiatkoski, the second fumble recovery of his career. WVU’s defense has forced four fumbles this season.

Josh Lambert’s 23-yard fi eld goal was his seventh in 10 attempts this season. Lambert is 19-of-19 in his career from fi eld goals of 29 yards or less.

Lambert now has 54 fi eld goals made, moving into third place all-time in fi eld goals made at WVU. Paul Woodside (1981-84) is WVU’s all-time leader with 74. He needs four more to catch Pat McAfee (2005-08) for second place.

West Virginia was 3-for-3 in the red zone against Oklahoma. The Mountaineers have now scored 14 touchdowns out of 22 opportunities in the red zone. Overall, WVU has scored 20 of 22 times in the red zone this season.

Shaw Petteway recorded a sack in the third quarter, his second of the season and second in as many games.

Nick Kwiatkoski and Noble Nwachukwu were credited with half sacks late in the third quarter.

Skyler Howard’s 50-yard touchdown run was the longest rush of his career and the fi rst rushing touchdown of his career. It was WVU’s longest rush from scrimmage this year.

Jovon Durante’s 36-yard kickoff return in the third quarter was WVU’s longest kick return of the season.

Kwiatkoski and Jared Barber recorded half sacks in the fourth quarter.

Karl Joseph recorded his team-leading fi fth interception of the season and ninth of his career. Joseph came into the game leading the country in interceptions.

WVU has collected 13 turnovers this season, one shy of its season total of forced turnovers from last season.

Wendell Smallwood went over 100 yards rushing for the second time this season. He had 147 yards rushing last weekend against Maryland.
