RECRUITING UPDATE WVU offers a four-star running back

%Wonder if he still commits after Neal is fired.
No, neither will 90% of other current recruits. Total rebuild with a ton of transfer rejects from other schools leading us to a sub 500 year the first year regardless of coach that is hired.

That's why we'd be better off to keep Brown and hire a high quality D coordinator.

Unless you’re Cignetti
He brought quality players with him. His honeymoon will back up in years 2-4. But he is a quality coach and should improve past performances ai IU. Expecting seasons going this deep in the season without a loss, unlikely will see it happen again.

He brought quality players from JMU eh. Not buying it. He's just a good coach. He's the kind of coach that can get a lot out of whatever players he has. Some guys just do that. He won't be at Indiana very long because a big school will snatch him up, but he will have them playing better than they ever have and already does. He could take over the WVU roster as it is, and win the Big 12 in my opinion.

I have no doubt he may have a bit of a drop off but I expect indiana to be much better than the normal there as long as he is the coach. Kids will want to play for him. That’s the difference.

That's what is happening now.

His schedule was no doubt easier this year. It will be tougher next year as the rotation of teams will be more difficult. In 2025 they open with 3 wins, Old Dominion, Kennesaw State, Indiana State. Then Big 10 schedule Illinois, Michigan State, UCLA, Wisconsin, Iowa, Maryland, Oregon, Penn State and Purdue. They could possibly be 8-4 or 7-5 next year but nobody knows if any of those teams that are near .500 rebound from this year. But it will be at Iowa, at Oregon and at PSU. Three tough road games. Big 10 schedule of games will change so don't know when they will be played.

Will WVU be better than 5-7 or 6-6?

I usually don't do a crystal ball thing with specifics as I find it to be stupid. No one knows as there are so many factors. But I will talk in generalities with a direction. I believe if they keep Brown, recruiting will be better in 2025 as it always is with stability with a solid coaching staff. And Brown is "solid". With turnover in the coaching staff, more often than not with a team that is middle of the pack, you will see it dip in the first year. I view most that post on here to have a utopian point of view in terms what a new coach would do and I discount their opinions as it isn't realistic. Any coach WVU would get if Brown leaves (and I do believe he will leave on his own accord with a settlement after the season) will not be able to have the depth in the roster that is needed to achieve more than a .500 record in the Big 12 in season 1.

Regardless what happens, I will not be involved in bad mouthing the program. I believe it is possible to be critical on specifics in the same breath as being complimentary when it is warranted. I have made it clear I don't have any respect for the haters and I try to ignore their crap.
