MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Sept. 9, 2024)
The No. 1 West Virginia University men’s soccer team concludes its two-game road trip with a matchup at Loyola Marymount, Tuesday, Sept. 10. Kickoff from Sullivan Field in Los Angeles is set for 8 p.m. ET.

The game will air on ESPN+ with live stats available on WVUsports.com.

It is a rematch of last season’s NCAA quarterfinal contest in which WVU won, 3-1, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium to advance to the College Cup for the first time in program history.

The Mountaineers are 4-0 on the season and own the top spot in both the United Soccer Coaches and Top Drawer Soccer rankings. It is the first time that WVU has been ranked No. 1 in program history.

Graduate students Sergio Ors Navarro and Simon Carlson have been leading the offensive attack as they have combined for 26 points through four games. Ors Navarro is tied for the NCAA lead with six goals while Carlson has contributed with four goals and four assists.

Junior Marcus Caldeira, the Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, has scored two goals for the Mountaineers this season, including the game-winner in the 87th minute at California Baptist on Friday.

West Virginia is second in the country in scoring, averaging 3.75 goals per game. A variety of players have contributed to the offense as nine different players have tallied at least one point.

Loyola Marymount is 1-3 on the season with a win over Cal but fell in their most recent contest against UC Riverside.

Three different players have scored a goal for LMU with three others collecting assists. Ky Mani Dade and Massimo Oedekoven Pomponi have each played two games in goal for the Lions.
