GAME THREAD WVU Men's Basketball vs Pitt - Backyard Brawl

I love our defensive intensity and excellent passing from our bigs. Keep shooting, it will come.

Blowout city. Damn.

Women are in 2nd half for those that may want to switch it over. They have turned it on start of 2nd half. Up 58-33 now.

35-14.........go home. Team isn't any better than last year.

Gonna be a long year, especially when our best player can't get open at all against a mediocre Pitt team.

It only gets tougher from here. If you expected this team to make the tournament you now know why that was never happening.

Did I expect Tournament? No. Did I expect better than last year? Yes. And we aren't there yet. Tonight's team was worse than last year's.

Your funny and wrong. This team would beat last years team as if they were UC (University Of Charleston WV)

I am funny and my opinion is that right now we are not better than last year. You can disagree.
I disagree. Last years team was slaughtered at home by Pitt . Dropping WVU to 3-5 after losses to Monmouth and NIT first round loser SMU. Last years team never won 2 straight.

This year you need to prepare for some tough losses to better teams than Pitt.
Nov. 27 - Gonzaga
Then loser Of Louisville / Indiana
Then whoever else finishes for 7th place game.
Probably will not win a game in that Tournament.

By the time Georgetown comes to town Dec. 6 WVU will be 3-4.

Then it's a bunch hopefully get even record teams before Big 12 opening of 1 ranked team after another.
Big 12 was not as great last year as claimed. They had 8 teams make the tournament but only 2 made the sweet 16 where both were booted.

I don't expect this team to finish above 10th or finish with winning record. Possibly 15 wins will be max if that many. With the early schedule 15 wins may not be possible.

As a Pitt fan, I was really hoping we'd be able to better gauge our team against what I thought might be major college competition in WVU. It never happened. God, WVU is BAD, really BAD. Gardner-Webb was better and they'd beat you. But you already know that. We could have beaten you by 40 if we wanted. That was a beatdown by Pitt in every aspect of the game. Just stating the obvious.

So Pitt fans still don't know how good our team really is until we play a legitimate team that can give us some competition. As for WVU, good luck the rest of the way. But at least you won't be playing teams as good as Pitt too often. You could get some wins in there somewhere.

Powell and Tenner made use of their minutes, at least on offense. We have a couple of players who didn't live up to the hype imo.

WVU Fans chill a bit. We are really good. I expected more from you guys. But we are really good. Our best player had an offnight, and we treated you guys like you are Robert Morris. We would contend in the Big 12. We may win the ACC.

You will be lucky to win 18 games and will be a bubble team in March.

Tell you what. Let's "circle back", as a now infamous press secretary said all the time, and check what the comparative results for Pitt and WVU are say by March 1. I think Pitt, if they haven't already won 18 games way before that, will do it and exceed it by 5, not including the ACC tournament. We're already 6-0. What's WVU's record? Will you get past 12 wins this year?
