WVU Release WVU Golf Finishes 28th at NCAA Golf Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 26, 2024) – The West Virginia University golf team jumped one spot on Sunday to finish in 28th place at the 2024 NCAA Golf Championships, held at the Omni La Costa North Course in Carlsbad, California.



WVU made its second NCAA Championships appearance and set a program record with its 28th-place finish. The Mountaineers finished 39th in the 1947 NCAA Championships. West Virginia finished ahead of North Florida and Purdue at this year’s NCAA Championships. WVU recorded rounds of 307-304-302=913 (+49).



Individually, junior Todd Duncan paced the Mountaineers, shooting Even par on Sunday. Duncan had rounds of 78-74-72=224 (+8). Senior Jackson Davenport wrapped up his Mountaineer career with rounds of 77-77-75=229 (+13). Junior Max Green shot rounds of 76-75-79=230 (+14). Junior Pierce Grieve shot 76-78-79=233 (+17), and sophomore Kaleb Wilson recorded rounds of 82-84-76=242 (+26).



WVU finishes the 2023-24 season with a school-record 98 victories, two tournament titles (Red Bandanna Invitational and Mountaineer Invitational), a program best fifth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship and a third-place finish at NCAA Regionals to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Individually, coach Sean Covich is one of five finalists for the NCAA Division I Dave Williams Coach of the Year award, and Green was named Division I Ping All-Midwest Region Team.



The Mountaineers have completed just nine seasons since the program was reinstated in 2015-16.
