But sans last season's results, WVU had one COVID shortened season, one round of 32 loss, one losing season, and a round of 64 loss. The 5 years before that WVU had Sweet 16, Sweet 16, round of 32, Sweet 16, then a 15-21 season.

So a steady decline for the last 5 years compared to the previous 5 which were in turn a decline from the 5 years before that. Huggins was slowly losing the benefit of the doubt and it was possible he was resting on his laurels. I'm not saying he should have been fired, but I am saying those that made replacing him seem like some insurmountable task were over blown in their analysis.
