WVU Release WVU Baseball - Mountaineers Set to Host Arizona for Weekend Series

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 20, 2025) The West Virginia University baseball team welcomes Arizona to Kendrick Family Ballpark for a three-game Big 12 series, March 21-23. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:30 p.m., Saturday for 4 p.m., and Sunday for 12 p.m.



Tickets are available at WVUGame.com, by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME or visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office at Kendrick Family Ballpark. Student tickets are free with a WVU ID. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+, listen on Mountaineer Sports Network, and can follow with live stats at WVUsports.com.



It is decades weekend at the ballpark with music and games from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s happening throughout the series. Saturday will also feature a throwback jersey keychain giveaway for the first 700 fans.



West Virginia is 18-1 on the season after taking two midweek games from James Madison. An eight-run first inning propelled the Mountaineers to a 11-1 win on Tuesday before strong pitching led WVU to a 3-1 victory on Wednesday.



The Mountaineers are 1-0 in the Big 12 with a win on the road at Oklahoma State. WVU and OSU only played one game last weekend due to the Stillwater wildfires.



West Virginia is eighth in the country with a 3.14 ERA with nine pitchers owning ERAs below three. Redshirt senior Griffin Kirn leads the staff with 30 strikeouts in 26.1 innings.



Junior Skylar King paces the Mountaineers with a .444 batting average and 1.107 OPS. Junior Sam White, senior Jace Rinehart, senior Kyle West, and freshman Gavin Kelly all have an OPS over 1.000 as well.

RHP Carson Estridge (2-0, 0.96 ERA, 13 K, 3 BB, 18.2 IP) vs. RHP Smith Bailey (1-1, 1.80 ERA, 25 K, 9 BB, 25.0 IP)

Led by head coach Chip Hale, the Wildcats are 16-4 this season after defeating Kansas in a midweek matchup and sweeping Cincinnati to open Big 12 play.



Arizona’s pitching has been their strength, entering the game with a 3.61 ERA and just 2.72 walks per nine innings, the lowest mark in the nation. Brendan Summerhill is hitting .427 and leads the nation with six triples.
