MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Feb. 27, 2025) The West Virginia University baseball team heads to North Carolina for a four-game series with Queens. The series will run Friday through Monday and will take place at three different ballparks in the state.



Friday and Saturday will be played at Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis while Saturday will take place at First National Bank Field in Greensboro and Monday will be at The Stick Williams Dream Fields on the campus of Queens in Charlotte. First pitch on Friday is 6:30 p.m., Saturday is 2 p.m., Sunday is 2 p.m., and Monday is 1 p.m.



All four games will be available to stream on ESPN+ with live stats available at wvusports.com.



The Mountaineers are coming off an 8-4 victory over Ohio in their home opener on Wednesday. Eight different pitchers saw action for WVU with five registering a scoreless outing.



Senior Grant Hussey hit his first home run of the season and 38th of his career, extending his all-time program record. Junior Logan Sauve added three hits and two RBI while senior Kyle West had two hits and two RBI.



The 8-0 start for the Mountaineers is the best since beginning 18-0 in 1964.

RHP Robby Porco (0-0, 1.23 ERA, 9 K, 7 BB, 7.1 IP) vs. LHP Kensen Green (0-0, 6.30 ERA, 12 K, 3 BB, 10.0 IP)

RHP Gavin Van Kempen (1-0, 3.24 ERA, 9 K, 4 BB, 8.1 IP) vs. RHP Adrian Quezada (0-1, 4.50 ERA, 7 K, 3 BB, 10.0 IP)

TBA vs. LHP Joey Ruller (0-2, 14.09 ERA, 8 K, 3 BB, 7.2 IP)



Led by second year head coach Jake Hendrick, the Royals are 2-6 this season, with both wins coming against Appalachian State.



Jake Barbour leads the team with a .419 batting average while Justin Hudson has a team-high four home runs. Pitcher Adrian Quezada has a 4.50 ERA, the lowest amongst starters.

Great start. But early on, the Friday-Saturday starters seem to be having some command/control problems. Hopefully they figure that out quickly.
