I doubt the OSU fan was shocked by the results, although I'm sure he was hoping for a better outcome.
Issue here is that Alabama is so much better than everybody else, that it kind of ruins college football. Ohio State was no slouch, but looking at how badly they were dominated by Alabama, as well as everybody else on their schedule, should be cause for concern. Alabama is also continuing to rake in all the top recruits in the nation, so I don't see any slowing down. Plus, Saban seems to be looking as young as he did 20 years ago.
You can almost pencil in next year's final four:
Alabama
Clemson
Oklahoma
And likely a 2nd team from the SEC
It's getting more and more difficult for any team North of the South Carolina line to compete with Southern based schools. If I was an all world recruit, why would I go to Wisconsin when I could play in a much more desirable climate. That's not even taking into account the hot babes down there that wear skimpy clothes year round.

I didn't get any sleep last night, not due to the game, as I only watched the 1st quarter, but due to a young idiot kid that shoots basketball outside between 10 and midnight. Wears shorts, and shoots hoops out there in 18 degrees. I'm bitching at them later today, so may end up in one of those Fear Thy Neighbor episodes on the Discovery ID network. But, due to no sleep, who is Riley?
Coaching Philadelphia Eagles is a tough gig. Fans will literally kick your ass, if you don't win games. I'm not sure why college coaches don't stay put where they are. Maybe you can make more money in the NFL, but when you're already making money, college football seems to be the better gig. I guess recruiting is a hassle for many, but I would personally like that end of it.
Believe it or not, he usually just wears shorts, but he was wearing a hoodie last night, when I looked outside at midnight, and thought about reaching for the BB gun. He normally wears Pennfield shirts. Pennfield Panthers.

Your narrative falls apart when you consider the recruiting rankings for 2021 and 2022. Only Alabama is recruiting at a higher level than Ohio State in 2021, and nobody is in 2022 (so far).
OU replaces coaches like they do QB's. They don't find clunkers like Texas.
He better. Texas boosters run those programs down in Austin, so it's win now, or he'll be gone soon.
