Why was Marshall kicked out of the MAC conference? What was the extent of their cheating? What would make a conference exile one of their own members and not defend and support them? How low did Marshall go? Someone please fill me in on the details. I know why they were placed on probation the last time: Paying players and academic fraud. I defended the academic fraud as it pertained to the football team. Their entire college is an academic fraud and the football program shouldn't have had to take the fall for that. But, I can't recall the time they cheated and were shown the door of their own conference?

Ok, you asked...MAC kicked us out for lack of facilites and operating a substandard football team that was dragging the conference down. Neither is good but neither is "cheating" either although Perry Moss was involved in NCAA violation but that not why they asked us to leave.

From Wikipedia Mid American Conference page:

"The membership was steady for the next two decades except for the addition of Marshall University in 1954 and the departure of Western Reserve in 1955.[5] Marshall was expelled from the conference in 1969 due to NCAA violations.[6]"

No one has come on Wikipedia and disputed this and it has been there for eons. I hear, "recruiting violations" i.e. Paying players to, basically, still lose. Can't even cheat to win.

Looks like hearsay upon hearsay to me. I'll concede when you find an official statment from the MAC saying the sole reason we were kicked of of the league was for cheating! I'll concede that Perry was cheating...but there were a myriad of reasons that the MAC booted us some 45 years or so.....but fun to stroll down memory lane!

You guys are amazing. The only bunch of people who can get beat, and claim a victory. Get booted, expelled, told to GTFO, of a conference and say, "I didn't actually HEAR anyone say that. Unless you bring me the commissioner of the MAC at that time to my house to personally tell me they shit canned us for cheating, I'm not believing it." Even though expulsion from a conference and 140+ recruiting violations happened in the same year.

I'd say they wanted you out anyway, they're only human. But, the cheating gave them the break they were looking for. Yeah, it was all about your facilities... LOL. I love, truly love, listening and reading Marshall rationalizations for their shortcomings.

Marshall should move to North Dakota, or Maine, or New Hampshire, even Rhode Island. You may be able to compete state wide in those areas for attention and love. And, it would do wonders for your psyche. Myanmar? You're player payroll would go much further than in the States.

Are we done now?

and if they don't get kicked out of the MAC in 1969 for cheating, they don't have to play @ ECU in 1970...
